Bet you've never seen one of these before

New member here. First post. I was inspired by pictures of John Millers new wood flat so I thought I'd share my "new" project. This is a boat my father built in 1956. He built about 6 boats with the thought of doing it for a living. He hung out at Jack Davidson's radiator shop swapping ideas and plans. He raced on occasion but nothing serious. When things went to fiberglass he got out of it. This boat is currently upside down with no bottom on it in my garage. It has finally moved it's way to the top of the project list so I'll be asking a ton of questions. But for now I'm just sharing the photos of the boat when it was new in 1956. I also have found a few (10-20) photos of old race boats in the archives if anyone is interested.

Pretty cool. I'd love to see the rest. Reminds me of the old Glen L 'L.Capitan'. I put a few shots of that below your pictures. You guys running a flathead V8 in that? I asked because of the carb spacing.

That has to be one of the coolest boats I have ever seen. can you give us some details about it

Here are the old race boat photos. Most of these were taken at Lake Tahoe. The hydroplane impersonating a submarine was supposedly Henry J. Kaiser's boat. The boat named "White Mist" apparently was involved in an accident the day the photo was shot which killed the driver. I suspect many of you know more details. My father only said there was a short shut down area that day and a lot of drivers were worried about it but the driver failed to make the turn before he hit the shore. He told me the driver's name but I've forgotten it. I don't have any information on Short Snorter, Hurricane IV, Breathless or California Kid.
