I am prop testing right now and wanted to know if anyone has tried a semi-clever application.... were thinking too much stern lift but wanted to know if anyone has tried one. So far I have tried...
Maximus 50MPH at 4000RPM 76MPH at 5600RPM WOT 24P
Bravo 1 40MPH at 4000RPM 78MPH at 5700RPM WOT 26P
Rev 4 45MPH at 4000RPM 78MPH at 5900RPM held back due to RPMS (slightly on trimming) 24P
So far it looks like a labbed Maximus will be the choice. (6000rpm=@84mph)
All these tests were with (+/-)50 gallons of gas and two people aboard.
BIG thanks to Brett at BBlades 920-295-4435 for his help with test props and insight.

Nope. Haven't tried one.
I don't think anyone will reply to this thread until the Crazybitch thing dies down. Did you change motors? Still the Ilmor?

I do not have a Magic, but just make sure with the 5 blade you are easy out of the hole, giving it throttle mid-range and backing off when re-entering the water if you get a bit of air. With the 5 blade your slip goes way down and you put alot of stress on the drive/gears. I ran 5 blade maximus 30P on my boat and I could just feel the drive grabbing and working so I went back to a 4 blade Bravo. Plus the mid-range was not that big of a difference for me as well I lost some on the top end. Just my .02.

This is the first time someone has actually posted the numbers at RPMs for the different props and motors for an Ilmor...
Ours with a lab 28 Bravo 1 are as follows...
At 50 we turn 3457 average
At 60 we turn 3969 average
70...4310
80...4665
90...5396
93...5425
That is a 4% slip at 93... and something we are looking to bring up a little... It will end up hard on the drive.
We tested the following...
Maximus 25 lab... Great handling, great holeshot but wouldn't pull 84 top end
Revolution 28... Best top end of the day, but still not in the 90's
Straight 28 Bravo 1 5100 RPM and only mid 80's
Hydromotive 26.. Hit the Rev limiter and only ran 86
Bronson Hill 27ish no cup Bravo 1... No top speed, good midrange and it hits the limiter.
I have heard great things about cutting off the diffuser bell on the lab 28 for decreased holeshot but more top end and a little more slip. If you are all locked up, like Shippingguy is, it will help with that and you keep your pitch.
Sounds like you are close with the labbed Maximus though. I don't see your boat pulling much more top end than that with the current setup. Should be pretty resistant to load as well, eh?

As an aside, those numbers aren't totally relevant... I just remembered you have a 625 and not a 550. Those were for the 550. The 625 has a broader power peak up on top, so if you can gain efficiency, you can gain speed.

Wes, Well 4% to 12% is just alittle difference ;) You definitely got it dialed in. The Bravo1 just seem to put out allot of spray.......ever tried skiing with that??????
RO: Whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr r :D :D
JB: Still the Ilmor 625 and a new TCM platimun shorty.
For some reason I am just guessing the Magic has some wind drag issues.....just a guess.

Seems like a whole lot of money to spend just to run in second place....
I am sorry, I could not help myself.............MP
Also Mr. jeff, I need to get you that "special" drive sauce for the run.
Keep that temp down this year.
I will hook you up.
