HB forums is a good place to get all angles all ideas and takes.
IGT, that is: International Gaming Tech is introducing Server based video poker and slot machines to casinos.
I figured casinos already were server based operations, but apparently not.
One of many advantages with this new system is they can change the machines around to differen't themes and types of games at the click of the mouse, without having to replace the machine.
Then one can only imagine all the other advantages.
Waddya think about most the big casinos changing out their entire machine inventory to this style system?
Server based gaming a BFD?
Good investment to buy IGT's stock?
DAMFINO, seems like it may be good..
Wadaya think, what's your take?:

If it's a quality product it sounds like a good idea to me, casinos are all about the bottom line, and the less techs they have to hire to move/replace/work on machines the better, it should be an easy sell to them

I dont like the chart and it's over valued. Will not do well in the coming correction in the markets. Did'nt do well in April's correction, and highly doubtfull it will do well in the one coming very soon. Friday's market action confirms we are at a top.
quote my fav. market letter: The stock market is about to crash. The only question is whether it will quickly fall down the elevator shaft or follow the jerky flight-path of a man pushed down a stairwell. Either way, the outcome will be the same; stocks will nose-dive, the dollar will plummet, and the bruised US economy will be splattered on the canvas like George Foreman in Rumble in the Jungle.
Troubles in the sub-prime market have just begun to materialize and already 38 main sub prime lenders have gone kaput. Foreclosures have reached a 37 year high, and an estimated 2 million homeowners will be put out on the street in the next few years.
And that's just for starters.
more:Collateralized debt has become a Wall Street favorite and these otherwise shaky loans have become staples in the hedge funds industry. In fact, last year Wall Street purchased nearly 60% of all mortgages--ignoring the risks associated with sub prime “debt instruments”. Also, through the magic of derivatives, many of these Mortgage Backed Securities have been leveraged to the extreme; sometimes at a ratio of 35 to 1.
In other words, a home loan of $300,000--that may have been secured by a young man with bad credit who makes $12.50 per hour picking up mill-ends and bits of insulation on a construction job site--has been leveraged into a $10,500,000 securities investment. This may explain why Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson is trying to sooth jittery investors with words of encouragement while he dispatches the Plunge Protection Team (PPT) to shore up the trembling stock market behind the scenes. Every effort is being made to keep this monstrous equity bubble from pirouetting to earth.
Currently, derivatives and mortgage-backed bonds total more than all US Treasuries, Notes and US Bonds combined!?! The stock market is one gigantic pyramid of debt and it's ready to blow.
This posting is not a intended to be investment advice. Merely pointing out that the last bull run that acted like this was in the 1920's. Interesting side note; 1929 was the only time in history real estate and stocks crashed at the same time...... Note China's correction last time, they triggerd the last one.......China's government wants to cool their market and after fridays close they took the same steps with a little more firmness than before. The second China's bubble bursts, the ripple effect will once again cause another correction for the U.S......

They have been talking about server based games in NV for several years, not just IGT, but also Aristocrat, Bally's etc. Nevada Gaming still has not, and does not plan to approve them anytime soon. IGT was a great buy 3 years ago before they split.

Will Rogers is quoted, "predictions, especially about the future are difficult".
Yogi "the future aint what it used to be".
We'll need to see the retail investors in before we get the big crash and I'm thinking the price of gas might hold 'em off for a while yet.
But it is merely speculation at this point.

Server based products have picked up on my end. We see all the orders before they go out the door.
P.S. I have worked for IGT since 95.

Hey another IGT'r. :)
I work in the IS dept. Server based gaming is the way everyone is heading. Who will come out with the best product? Well you know who i'm going to pick.
People ask if IGT is a good investment. Well we are moving forward by constructing a new campus. A 650,000+ sf building in southwest Las Vegas to complement our 900,000+ sf building in Reno. We are constantly improving and striving for new and better innovations in gaming. But beyond that the vibe of working within this company is different than any other company i've worked at before.
So that's my opinion don't take it for any more than that.

Predictions albeit not 100% accurate when it comes to stocks. Charts for the most part do not lie.... Old stock brokers never die, just miss by a narrow margin!!! Another old adage: sell in May and go away!

There is no fundamental or technical reasons to buy this stock at the moment. I would buy after the market correction, the second that is! IGT's chart confirms it will not fair well in a correction. Today's market action is confirming that the current market rally is at the top. The bull has only had a run like this once before, after the bottom of Aug 1921. We all know how that one ended, leading to that market saw 24 record rallies between 1928 and end in 1929.
When the bulls are stampeding, it raises a cloud of dust that makes it hard to see danger. In any bullish rally; I'm a short term trader and short seller, never follow the hurd of buy after the so called smart money!
6 month chart IGT mind the gap!!!!

G2E has come and gone and server based gaming was the hightlight. Keep your eyes and ears open.
