Battery ground to block

For the ground, does it actually have to touch the block? Or can the terminal on the ground wire be sandwiched between a washer and the head of the bell housing bolt?
I want to make sure my ground is good so I dont contribute to the chances that my MSD will fail.

Just make sure you have good metal to metal contact.
Paint and Anodize are both insulators and will not give you a good ground.

Yup, bellhousing bolt for mine as well. I also ran short 10 gauge black ground wires from the alternator and starter to the block as well. My thinking was the better ground system I had the better off I would be in the long run.

After you clean up the connections put some silicone grease on them to stop corrosion and use a shake proof washer between it will bite in and help the connection.
If possible your MSD should be connected to the battery.

IMO, better than grease over the top, would be corrosion-proofing paste such as "Nokorode", comonly found in home center stores to allow safe and corrosion free connections of Al to Cu house wiring. Put it IN the connection, on all surfaces that contact.

seeing as I work for a Ferd dealer I use there Dia-electric / caliper slide pin grease. Its clear, and a thin coat is all you need :D

Hey Bri, I have some stuff we use on our edm(electro discharge machine) machines that guarantees grounds. I think I gave Joe some for his wireing a while ago. Now if he remembered to use it I don't know...:D pop
