Just sold the 21 Daytona, so I'm looking to go bigger 25 to 28'. The question is cat or v? My kid likes the underneath seating we saw in the 28'Ultra, but I'm trying to stay out of that price range. So, I guess I need to find out if someone else makes a open bow with a couple of seats tucked underneath.
Also, insurance. Whats gonna kill me? A cat or V and what HP to stay around?
Theres only 3 of us , so I dont really have to have a full open bow.
Thank You

It was a question of the things I'm looking 4 as in the underbow seating, ins. etc. I loved the Daytona ride and said I'd never go V, but Its been 10 years since I've looked at boats and I want to make sure I go the right way.
I know, once you go cat, you never go back

I DIG IT !

I have a 2000 27 baja and love it. I always wanted a cat but the $ has always stood in the way for me. Its just me and my wife and we love boat camping and hanging out with friends. I love the way it handles the ruff water. It seams to be the right size for us. Not to big but, not to small. I think that the cat are way cool but thats alot of $$$$$. I have a 502mpi and pay about $500 a year. I guess its all about what you want and your into??? I would love to get a cat but would need to sell my for the right price. Alway wanted a cat just never got there yet. Good luck.

Depending on the length and the power your insurance might not be as bad as you think. Send Andy01 a PM and see what he can do for you for insurance. We had a 29 ft deep V prior to the deckboat that we have now, yes not the same as a regular cat, but I would not trade the ride of the deckboat for the ride of a V any day...

Whats the reason for the V in 28' and above? I did see the 25'Daytonas in the span, but no underneath seating. Weird thing was the 97 wad a small seat and the 99 had no seat.
The motors were souped up as well and I was concerned about the insurance rates. I have read b4 about a HP factor with ins companies.

V's are much better family boats IMO. More storage!

I stated something to Andy about the 25, but never got an answer.

Also, An opinion on models of V's and cats would be appreciated. I've seen some 25' Eliminator V's and Force Offshore cats in the price range, but are they worth it?
BTW, the range is 60 to 70K

Every cat I've been in has rode very nice and smooth (even in fairly rough water). Each hull has its advantage. IMO a "V" is more flexable. My kids love hangin in the cuddy and playing PS II and it gets them out of the sun and heat. It also gives them a place to nap....
Good luck with your next purchase... I'm sure you will do plenty of research and be happy with your next decision...

Thats because that HOMO has alot of personal problems. :D
BTW stay with the Cat. I hear DCB makes a nice underbow with seating (cuddy). :)

Sorry about the no answer, I thought I got back to everybody. That is what makes me different then the other guys.
Insurance can be more on the cat. It depends on top speed. Of course there are other variables but top speed is a lot of it.
Now for the boat, for what you are looking for I would go V. It is less on insurance, less to purchase and has way more room. If you said you were after a boat for ride qaulity, speed and fun to drive then I would say go cat. If your after family needs then V bottom is the way to go in your case.
if I can be of help let me know. Again sorry for the delay, been very very busy but ALWAYS try to call EVERYBODY back same day. ALWAYS!
Andy

I figured after lurking so long, it was a great opportunity to jump into the shark pit and offer some info. Those Enforcers are all Sleekcraft.

we are still looking for someone to be the first on the water with a new Ultra 26' V.

Our Lavey is in the spam section also. It's a great boat for the family and has lots of room. Rides like a much bigger boat than a 26.
