Can you polish a 7.4 Mag upper intake???

Is the 7.4 Mag upper intake aluminum? Can it be polished?
Since my 7.4 lx mpi(has mag intake) is not a good base for performance upgrades I am thinking about trying to add a little bling. Has anybody ventured down this road before?

If you can ID it as aluminum, it will take a polish. Try sticking a magnet to it. If it sticks, don't polish it. If it doesn't stick, make sure it isn't plastic (see below) and go for it. Keep in mind that making the surface completely smooth reduces its ability to disperse heat. If that would be of concern to you.
I say make sure it isn't plastic because I'm not exactly sure what your engine has, but my Tahoe intake manifold is made of a plastic or some sort of composite material...
