Been lurking on here for a while and finally wanted to get some input for a motor I am building for my 68' Stevens 17 ft. flattie v- drive. I have gotten some comments from a few of you (thanks) and wanted to put it out on the table to see if I'm headed in the right direction. What I have is a 68' Camaro lg. journal 327. 60 over, flattop forged 11:1 (or so), 462 camels ( a little P&P work done), 2.02/1.60. Srew in studs, guidplates, etc..... Cam is a 288 - 475 - 108. Torker II intake, with Demon 780. Running Eledbrock M1 exhaust manifolds. Hooked up to Casale toploader w/ 8% ( am I close, or do I need 12%'s). Prop is unknown yet, but I do have a 11.5x15 2 blade. I'm hoping my combo will be close to a legitimate 400 hp or so and possibly in the neighborhood of 70 mph. Not too crazy, but a nice ski/fun boat..... Thanks Chevy guys!!

Looks like you might get 400 HP, in the vicinity of 6-grand.
Roller cam or hydro?

You need to up that camshaft and take advantage of the compression. Also, if you can find a better intake do so. I'd run a Victor with a 2 inch spacer. Every test I've seen those old torkers really robbed some Hp. I'd try the 8 gears and start from there.

Running a hydro cam and lifters.

Hydraulic, hmmmmm not so much then. I'm with QJ. Too mild on the cam and if he has an experienced intake preference, go with him.

That you Jason?
If so I still stick with what I advised on the other site. But if your shooting for 70mph now I think you'll need a roller with the small inch deal. I like the 11:1 vs the 10:1 you said previously IF you can run it that high without detonation. I prefer the Victor Jr you talked about before better than the Torker you listed here (you'll need all the power you can get in the 6000+ rpm range if your shooting for 70mph). I also think the Edelbrock exhaust logs will hold it back. If your running an 11.5 dia prop then you better stick with the 8's and see what they do first (quicker is more fun to drive).
