That's what we do. I rather get a good nights sleep at home and leave at 4 or 5am. On the water by 10am. No sense in making a 4 hour drive a 6 hour drive.

I am sitting in traffic tonight, I rather make it to Havi at midnight and sleep in my bed there than leave Saturday morning. You will have to get up really early on Saturday to make it to Havi at a time where you will be able to launch.

Of course a few accidents easily crush my theory, but over the years I've found there is a window of opportunity - usually between 5-8 p.m. to escape on Holiday weekends. I think the early crowd leaves at about noon, and the late crowd leaves about 9. There have been many times I have made it from downton LA to Riverside without stopiing on big weekends. Strange but true.
