So I have been working my butt off on this can of worms. It started out as me wanting to replace the ugly ass worn out carpet that was pee stained by cats and literally falling apart. (previous owner left the boat outside.) I found out that the false bottom was screwed, the bulkhead was pulling away and the port side stringer was de-laminated.
So I went down to Todd to have the stringer repaired. He does awesome work, I am quite satisfied with the outcome. He even gave me some pointers on how to do the rest of the false bottom work myself and hooked me up with some spare material.
Now all I have to do, is finishing the laminating of the false floor, prep for carpet and start assembling. My boat should be water worthy in about a week or so. I can't wait to hit the water, the weather is too nice! And here are some pictures of what it now looks like.

While you have the engine out check your lifting strakes for cracks. There has been a couple of us on the boards that have needed this area repaired. It's a much easier repair if you catch the cracks before they make their way thru the bottom of the hull.

the strakes that run along the bottom of your boat. They are responsible for "lifting" the boat out of the water.

by the looks of your pics you didnt coat the wood with resin.. if you didnt I would before putting carpet in or you will be replacing the floor again soon. If you did then disregard.

The center section is completely fiberglassed in, underside and upper side. So, its nice and water tight. :) It looks textured because of the 7 ounce cloth I used for added strength. Thanks for the heads up though. Heres some more pics from today.
Im thinking of painting the stringers black instead of carpeting them. Any ideas of what to use or suggestions? Thanks!

It seems for every one step forward I take I end up making two steps backwards. I had the engine in today to set up the front left mounting point and it turns out that I have to fill and re-drill the holes for the front right side of the engine mount. The holes are plugged now I just need to finish with a fiberglass patch and set the engine back in.
Does anyone know what sort of angle I should have the engine at? I was going to place the motor in on the rear mounts and then try and level it out, mark my spots to drill and then drill the holes through the stringer. Does this sound like I am on the right path? Thanks!

What did the stringers cost you to replace? Also who did it? and where are they located?

I didn't have them replaced I had them repaired. The wood underneath the fiberglass was good, but the fiberglass was coming away from the wood. I got it done by Todd over at TRG fiberglass in Montclair. Give him a hollar, he does great work. 626-991-9031

I'll take you up on that visit Miller Custom Boats. We have two 20' mini cruisers in the family a 1980 and a 1981. Had a 19' also but it got sold . I'll post up some pics of my Miller in the "Miller pics thread in the next week or two.
LuckyDaze looks really good, you have made a ton of progress in the last week, very impressive to say the least at how far you have come, and I'm glad to see yet anouther Miller being put back on the water. I really like Millers! Great job.

I'm inspired! Great job, good work! You already have my vote for the show & shine. Can't wait to see it in person and to see the way it performs. Never seen a Miller go with a chevy in it. I'm sure your boat will get on pretty good.
