Duramax Exhaust Temps [Archive]

I am sure that his has been knocked around before but....I just had a Edge/Juice/Attitude delio instaled on my 2500HD. Never knew what temps were before but just got back from towing Toybox from Havi to Williams, uphill most of the way. Using setting 2 (tow) exhaust temps got to 1250-1260 for 10-15 seconds a couple times (warning went off at 1250) going 65-70 mph when down shifted and revved up on bigger hills. Mostly stayed below 1000. Is this a problem or OK. Should I move the alarm point up to say 1270? How about moving the egt/defueling set point up to 1270?

1200 to 1300 for short periods is not a big deal. Stock they run 1200 to 1250 max on long hills. I'm not an Edge expert but I think I would set the alarm higher.
When I pull long hills I try to keep it at 1200 or lower with my Dmax. Hope that helps.

Franky, those temps are what mine runs too. If you are towing a big load up hill the temp will rise that high, just dont run up there for too long.

I have the same truck and those numbers are good. Make sure you keep an eye on your trans temp also.

Stock exhaust or upgraded? I have an 05 2500 HD 4X4 LLY with DiabloSport Predator programmer at performance tune (85 HP bump) stock exhaust and I see 1300 degrees at full throttle not towing (for short periods). No problems yet :D :D ! If you are concerned I would upgrade your exhaust as that was recommended to me. Also, cold air intake will help a little.

Yes on the exhaust and intake. Just went from LHC to Flagstaff RT. Got a little over 20 MPG at 75 MPH (not towing). This truck ROCKS finally!!!!
