I have a 1981 Cometitive trailer with drum brakes on the back axle. The left brake has started sticking and locking up the tire when the boat is off the trailer. I replaced the entire brake system 3 years ago. Full backing plates and master cylinder. Everything looks clean and not rusty. Any sggestions other than all new brakes again? Only one side ever sticks.
Thanks
Gary

it may be rusting b/t the shoe and drum. You can try to hit it wilh a hammer for an easy fix to dislodge it if it's sat awhile. Also, in the back of the drum there is probably be an opening: take a large flathead and turn the spindle to loosen the tension. Did you salt this or leave it sitting for extended time???

I just re-read your post... no rust. Did you try to re-bleed the lines????

Well I think I solved this problem. The drums didn't look bad but I went ahead and had them tuurned. No sticking this past weekend at the lake. Much, much smoothers stops. Aldo adjusted them just like the instrucions. Tighten till you can't turn the tire then back off 10 clicks.
