my bro just replaced his motor on his trihull. he states the drive seems to be out of adjustment. as in drive, reverse, and nuteral. here is the problem. when engaging the drive into forward it seems to be doing like a nuteral drop. it runs upto (guessing 2k rpm) before engaging or slaming into gear. and also when in nuteral it isnt disengaging fully. there needs to be some kind of way to adjust this. we just need to be told how to. any help?

You definetly looking at cable adjustments. You didn't say what kind of drive you have but most will have 2 cables from the control back to the motor. One is throttle and one is shift. These will usually to a shift linkage sort of assembly next to the carb. With a third short cable running from there down to the outdrive. You need to adjust the shift cable so that it fully engages before the throttle cable starts to open the carb.
I recomend buying the repair manual for your drive and it will give you the step by step for correct adjustment. If you are not fully engaged you can wear out the drive prematurely.
Good luck.

Look at both of these.
Bottom of page at: http://www.outdrives.com/merc/mdtips02.html
And 'adjusta alpha shift cable' at: http://www.mercstuff.com/howdoi.htm
The second is a good link source for other common problems too.
