Took the boat out for the first time this afternoon. 81 Sunkisst 18' tunnel hull. Lightweight boat. 455 Olds, yeah, I know. Berk JG, new A impeller, Berk droop, Place diverter. Shoe, and rideplate. Runs very well. Give it some juice, she jumps right up outta the hole and right on plane. By 2K on the tach, I'm getting a porpoising issue. More juice, more porpoising. Accelerates very well, but porpoising gets worse. Position of the diverter from all the way down, to almost all the way up has no effect. All the way up makes it worse.
Boat also feels like I'm on an icy road, with half flat tires. Kind of skates around like it's really loose. I haven't had it much over 2 K. I was told the ride plate was up too high. I need to lower it with a 3/8" thick shim to get it between 1 1/2 and 2° of the keel. Hopefully that will help.

Sounds like ride plate to me. Adjust down and it should help with the porpoising.
