Depending on what your towing you should be fine. And definately do NOT tow in overdrive.........

put a mag hytec trans pan on it and use some kind of semi synthetic trans fluid. (amsoil torque shift fluid). is what i run in my hd and it stays nice and cool.

Love to have a 2500 with a diesel and the mongo tranny, but that's a lot out of pocket. The Tahoe has such a nice ride.
I think I'll have a trans gauge installed (duh), so I'll have a reference point, the '04 Tahoes already use synthetic trans fluid from the factory, so I think I am OK there...

From what i have heard doing research on warm tranny temps is the bigger pan is putting a band aid on it. Cause now instead of 12qts of hot fluid now you have 15qts that your still trying too cool with that tiny cooler. Speaking of the Diesels i have a buddy who bought the 350 dollar bigger pan and I bought the 450 dollar bigger cooler and let me tell you the cooler is way better than the pan option.

That makes sense. Since the trans oil runs through the radiator ahead of the cooler, I think I'll start by cooling the engine down. I put a 160 thermostat in my '03 Vette, and it stayed in the 170's to 180's all the time. Not sure why GM like to run their motors at 210 degrees. I think you guys have helped me with some thoughts to form a plan here... Thanks!
