I have heard that with the development that is planned for the Island that a second bridge will be needed. I was wondering what the new bridge would look like? The London bridge is very aesthetically pleasing and I have always enjoyed passing under it on the water " except for the time I got shit on by a bird". I am assuming that the new bridge will look like a a freeway overpass:( If they must add another bridge why not make it another cool and unique bridge?

At risk of getting flamed by someone from our city, this is how I see it. You have a great idea but someone has to pay for it which brings up the next point.
As long as the island doesn't get developed, there is really no need for a second bridge in most folks opinions as long
as we invest a little money in it and maintain it properly.
Obviously though, the island is getting developed and very
quickly, so I would think that those causing the need for
the second bridge should have to pay for it. If I had a
voice in it, I'd say the developers and the new residents
and occupiers should pay for it. But I'll bet anything
that our fair city will let those developers come in and
ruin our bridge with those big trucks and when it becomes
gridlock, we'll start the second bridge and all those developers and homes will already be built and the city
will pick up the entire tab. Just a guess but it's already
being done. I like your small suspension bridge look.
check out those killer light houses that have been built
all over the lake. A real touch of class! A suspension
bridge would look great, even if it really didn't function
like one it would look cool. Great idea.

I can give you a good deal on the Brooklyn bridge. :D
In general I agree, if you're going to build something that will last a lifetime, make it look good.
The Romans complained about the cost of roads, but people are still using them.

I recall an artist rendition of a proposed bridge plan a few years back. I can't really remember any hard facts but if memory serves me it was some sort of steel girder type....
Anyone else recall that ??? Seems like it was in a thread here some while back..
