is anyone running a blower with a quarter stringer hull? i was wondering if it would be possible with my 79 challenger. it is a pretty heavy hull and the stringers are in really good shape. i have heard that it is not recomended too much hp and torque for the hull. the motor is a built 468 bbc.

think about it. How much of the hull is actually holding the motor in place. 1/4 stringer boats have practically nothing to hold that hp in place...:D :D

At the very least, upgrade your engine mounting, to something like a rail system. it will spread the load/force equaly to the rail that you presently have.

I've got a homemade rail system in mine. My rails were in good shape too. Do you know how much do our Challenger hulls weigh?

i ran a 900+hp(@600 motor, 300hp shot no2) nitrous fed bbf in a 1/4 stringer taylor sj for 2yrs with no probs. i replaced the stringers and floor 1yr before i built the no2 bbf for it though. i made my floor "tie in" better than the factory did and i used a 2 by 6 header stinger sideways in frt of my stringers to reinforce them from flexing to much/give more leverage on the hull. i really spanked on that boat hard and i'm not a expert on glass work so if it was gonna break, it should've the 1st yr i raced that thing! its was also a 3 point mount set-up and i never had engine or stringer flex.
i personally think they'll handle it in spurts, but not for prolonged use.if the stringers age and strength are in question, i wouldn't even think about it.
