So we figured wed take rt 66, got off on mountain springs rd thru Amboy and found a neat little diner in Ludlow that I didnt even know was open any more but it was good food and a neat little bit of history..very neat road..
Got on the fwy and a few miles down we saw this on the side of the 40, It looked like a four door sedan was pulling this and had a little trouble..

We saw that too. It was a mini van that was down on the side of the road covered in dust. The time we passed it just the police and tow trucks were there. I hope everyone was ok.

Saw it a few minutes after it happened, couldnt tell what the tow vehicle was, but it was covered in dust/dirt. The boat at the time, was still sorta on the trailer, they must have pulled the boat off the trailer with the tow truck that was there. Very windy on that stretch of the 40 yesterday. My wife and I commented how many trailers going through there were well over the speed limit, didnt even bother to slow down.

I passed them twice on the way home and said to my wife that it was just an accident waiting to happen.
They were towing the boat with a Toyota mini van.
Two kids in car seats in the back.
It must have happened right behind us.
I passed them just after getting back on the 40 at ludlow.

And people complain about the dangers of Rice road......seen posts like this many times about I40..........
I've encountered 2 very drunk drivers along the 40 as well, calling those in was nearly useless.....
Drive safe and smart everyone!

My father had a major accident on the 40 about the same place. About 3 years ago.
Boat off the trailer, vehicle rolled over in the median. Big mess.
I had pictures up in the Boat Misshap thread a while back.
Trailer failure was the cause. Axle moved on the rear tandem caused massive instant sway my father could not bring back....and flipped him (mom too) on their lid.
My Dad will be the first to admit that towing a 24' 6k lb daycrusier behind a Dodge Durango (even though it was rated for it) is not a good idea.

That looks like a Cobalt, and if so it is heavy and big$$$. I figure if it is the weight would be about 7,000 pounds with trailer and gear. So a Toyota mini van?????
