Man Found,
Believed Drowned Off Shore
BOULDER BEACH, NV - An apparent drowning on the Nevada side of Lake Mead is under investigation by the National Park Service. Spokeswoman Roxanne Dey said authorities responded to the Special Events Beach at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
``A personal watercraft (PWC) without a rider was adrift when Rangers and Wardens arrived on scene,” Dey said. Witnesses on other PWC’s were able to tell rangers the general area where the man was last seen.”
The body of a 44 year-old Las Vegas man was recovered from 15 feet of water about 100 yards from the shore about one hour into the search. Dey said the name of the victim who was not wearing a life jacket is withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Dey said witnesses indicated the man slipped under the water while he was trying to repair his disabled watercraft. An autopsy is pending.
