Summer's here, and I'd like to get as much seat time out of the Stevens as I can. Problem is, it unloads hard, and blows the pump out when the secondaries open up. Anyone semi local that has dealt with these dinosaurs and can make what it needs?

Talk to Jack at MPD. He should have a loader that will work or some good insight.

I'll swap a loader for a regular grate if you can hurry! motor needs to go in soon!

This intake isn't like the "modern" Berks. Instead of a 4 bolt pad at the front of the intake, it has 2 in the front, and 2 in the rear. I forgot to mention the year... this is a 1965 Stevens flatbottom jet with a JA, so there's very little available off the shelf for it. Thanks for the offer though.

Jack @ MPD hands down. He's been around long enough, I bet he's got a pattern for that thing and can whip one up for you in no time.
He made me one for my Jacuzzi WJ that turned out bitchen.

I'll give him a shout. The scary thing is, it GPSd at 43 with just the primaries and no adjustment to the cav plates. It'll be like Mr Toad's wild ride if it can take everything the 390 has.

Call Jack. I know he has a lot of loaders that are not ideal for a race app or a boat that is set up to run 90+ so you might want to give him a call, tell him what you got, and he might have something already for you. If not, I doubt he will have one of his latest loaders just laying around ready to sell. They are usually build to order....

Just talked to Jack. He wasn't seen one these in 30 or so years, and the intake doesn't sound like anything he's seen before. I need to drag it back from the shack so he can take a look see. I guess I'll be trying to adjust the plates this weekend to find a happy medium. Just what I need... a weekend at the river with lake lice and no diverter.......

Go by Tommys old Shop I think it is Bad Habit Racing now but anyways talk to Brian or B Ride as we call him and get Denis's number he used to build them for Tommy if you have the one that came out he can build it with any mods you want done and hes pretty quick about things to.I believe he is in Carona.

I crawled under the flat and took the grate off to see exactly what's up under there. There is a 4 bolt flat to mount a loader, so I may be able to use an off the shelf piece. Here's a pic showing the flat front of the intake and the curved rear, and the grate that was on it. Definitely room for improvement. Anyone local have a loader I can fit up to check fit?

It better sit there for a few DAYS! I'm feeling better about getting more speed out of it now. Now I'll just need to make sure a "normal" loader will fit, and find out how much bite it'll need. Damn, this thing might hit 60!
