View Full Version : K boats vs Dragboats

I got a chance to drive Billy B's K boat at Needles on a quiet day during the week. Holy SHIT!!!!!!!!. There is no comparison between the 2 different styles of boats. The dragboat will tear your head off for the first 5 or 6 seconds you have to work hard to get the boat to set and accelerate down the 1/4 mile. The tough part comes from trying to run it as efficiently as possible without tipping it over. The dragboats are light and twitchy.
The K boat is a totally different monster. You are fighting with this thing over rollers and through rough water while trying to go fast. You are working your ass off the whole time. It takes all your energy and leaves you out of breath. The difficult part of driving a K boat for me was coming out of a turn and trying to get the boat to set and not go to the moon. The boat torques the opposite way of the dragboat and that is a weird feeling. I definitely got my rocks off driving the K boat. Sorry, not jumping ship, just telling it the way I see it.

Especially those down river turns :D :D eek! . It was a kick in the ASS watching the boat run as I haven't seen that in along time. I really thought that Tony would say that it was a weak suck, but he really seemed to like it.

WHERE'S THE MOTHER F---IN PREACHER?????? Mike, you had to bring up that guy. I am still having nightmares hearing that raspy drunk voice.
Smally, it would have to be a K boat. There really is no comparison between the 2 styles. I always wondered why Billy always wore his helmet and now I know. (Besides safety,) your eyes get watered up and you have to squint all the time. With the full face helmet you can run with your eyes wide open and see all the little mystery rollers.
Oh by the way,
this is up for sale..............

Sounds like driving a K- boat is alot like drilling a fat chick. Lots of work, leaves you worn out, full face protection for all the rollers, big and heavy.......... Not that I'd know, my chick is only 245lbs soaking wet. eek!

I think jetboatguru is the one comparing Peaches & Pineapples. If jetboatguru put a BAF motor in his boat it would be a better comparison! And I still Know fuel blower and injection will always make more power, then anything that has carbs and NOS on it. That’s why the top class in both sports run fuel blowers and injection!
wink

I thought guru was referring to the Blown Alky flat that he races when compairing these boats.
It doesn't matter anyway...a true compairison would require Guru driving in a circle race!!! wink
Or maybe talking Oxbig in shoein that bad boy.

Cole TR1,
I have driven a TAF to a 6.66 @ 160mph and I have driven Billy B's K boat. No comparison!!!!!
The sensation of driving a TAF is buffered by the capsule. The tear your head off speed is there but for only 6-7 seconds. The K boat is a constant rush and the only time you relax is when you are slowing down to turn left. I was by myself when I was running around in the K boat. I can't imagine going into a turn 5 or 6 wide. I would love to get one of John and Fred Harts Revenge boats. I know these guys have been doing this for many years and know whats up.
Either way, K boats and dragboats are both racing so I love them both.
