As most of you know I lost my younger brother to cancer last December. This has been the hardest thing to grasp for my Dad and myself and his young wife Elizabeth. Please read her story and if you can help in a small way you would be doing your part in helping in this fight against cancer.
My brother was a strong, healthy boy his entire life, until one day our lives were turned upside down when we discovered he had STAGE 3 cancer that had already spread. This could happen to any one of us. :(
RACING TO SAVE LIVES
Family and Friends, “To love someone so deeply gives you
Strength. To be loved so deeply gives you
Courage.
I, Elizabeth Collier am training to participate in a MARATHON!! I have become a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's “Team in Training” (TNT) for the Santa Barbara Century Cycle team which is racing on August 18th. I am not much of a cyclist but with the top-notch training from TNT, I am going to do all I can to make it through the 100 miles to cross the finish line. I will carry with me the memory of my husband, David who courageously battled non-Hodgkin Lymphoma for a long year and a half enduring severe treatments of chemotherapy with nothing but tremendous faith and a hopeful smile on his face.
My husband has been and will always be my greatest inspiration in all things I do. Therefore in the name of all those currently battling the disease and in loving memory of David I will embark on this race.
An estimated 747,000 Americans battle blood related cancers every year of which Leukemia ranks as one of the highest, especially amongst children, taking a young life every twelve minutes. Cancer is a battle in which only those that face and experience it are the true heroes. They have the courage to fight, BUT we have the power to help.
Please join me in supporting the extraordinary efforts of the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society. My personal goal is to raise $5,000 by June 18 2007. Although my personal sponsorship goals are miniscule compared with the monumental task of finding a cure for these diseases, I know each dollar we contribute makes a difference in the lives of thousands. I will do the physical part, but I ask for your encouragement and generous support in my endeavor. I need your help to really make a difference. All funds raised goes directly into research, education, and patient services. Your donation will help patients like my team’s honored teammate, Oscar and Heidi who are currently battling the disease.
You can make a tax-deductible donation in two easy ways:
1. Visit my website at. http://www.active.com/donate/tntors/tntorsecollie where you can
Donate securely using your credit card. (Through this website, you can also find
Additional links on information about the LLS and updates on my training).
OR
Send a check payable to: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Elizabeth Collier
2013 West Elm Ave.
Anaheim Ca, 92804
Please submit your check donations by June 18 2007. However, online
Donations will still be accepted after this date. Every donation no matter how big or small can make a difference. Thank you so much for your support and may you be blessed for your generosity.
With Sincere Gratitude,

As no stranger to blood desease myself I know the tremendous strides that have been made in chemotherepy drugs just over the past few years. One of them named Gleevec, which is only about 6 years old keeps me alive today. I know without generous donations of those in the past driving the research for this and hundreds of other revolutionary drugs, I would not be here typing this.
One of every 3-4 people will be afflicted with some type of cancer or other fatal blood disorder in their lifetime. That means virtually everybody will be affected at some point by a close family member or friend, if not themselves. It isn't something that will only happen to someone else.
If everyone that could just kicked in $25 or $50 think of the strides that might be made in treatment development to protect all of us and our children and their children. Think about things you blow $50 on that mean virtually nothing on a day to day basis.
Please be generous and help Elizabeth reach her goal, honor her husband and Windy's brother, and help defeat this brutal desease in the process.
It's a click away and takes about 2 minutes (http://www.active.com/donate/tntors/tntorsecollie)...

Thank you! I couldnt imagine life without my brother either. We are suppose to out live our parents. My brother turned 34 Oct 3rd, two months before he passed away. Not fair. His life was just begining.
There is a little boy that lives across the street from my parents house. He is 5 years old and has a brain tumor. He has a 10% chance of surviving.

Windy,
Let me first start by saying God bless you and your family. Unfortunately, I can relate to both the loss of a brother, and a loved one with cancer. I too lost my younger brother this past December. He was killed in a car accident two hours after he graduated from ASU. He left behind a wife and a 4 year old son. I understand the turmoil you are enduring. Stay strong.
My mother is currently in the final stages of her life with brain cancer. I understand what it is like watching a loved one deterroriate with this horrible disease. I admire your courage, and your willingness to take proactive action to combat this disease, and hopefully spare another family from the heartache of the untimley death of a loved one. I am honored to make a donation to your cause.

She is very close to her goal and is very happy about it. Her company donated 1,000.00 and they bought her a rode bike with all the gear. She really wanted to ride my brothers mountain bike...but she couldnt keep up.
She is training hard for the marathon. They have weekly meetings and they train on the weekends.
She could have slipped into depression like my mom has...but instead she is making my brother proud...and everybody here made a huge difference. :) :) :)

Just lost a friend two weeks ago, after batteling for a year and half. Amazing with all out technology that this deadly disease keeps on getting stronger and killing faster. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss and I too am going to ask my company to match a donation, even if it is $25.00. I sat here and though about how many family members and friends we have lost in the past years to cancer and the numbers are mind boggeling! My Dad fought stomach cancer 5 years ago and was one of the lucky ones to still be here today, and we are so thankful for this and count our blessings every day. I wish your family lots of love from our family and you have a very special angle with you every day! :)
