I am intrested to hear opinions, on what You think is the best performing T-Ram on the market, for a BBC,and Whether or not a dual carb T-ram performs better than a single carb single plane intake,on a jet boat?

im running a weiand tunnel ram with two demon 750's on my 468. i have done some work to the inside of it to improve flow. stock the castings are kind of sloppy. i would probably rather run a good manifold and single carb for simplicity. but i dont think i would switch now i really like the looks of a tunnel ram and two big carbs :) it runs great and i know this manifold is more affordable.

I'd run one like this. :D

The Weiands need some work. I'd go with an Edlebrock if not running a fabricated one.

The Dart T-Ram is the next best thing when compared to a full sheet metal ram. You can't beat them for the money. There is a brand new one for sale on Racing Junk right now for 6 bills and some change. Still in the box. I'd jump on it.

if you have the money and are doing an all out race application then go with a custom sheetmetal...if you just have a river hot rod and a limited budget then go with a dart tunnel ram.

I'm curious as to how many people are turning enough RPMs to utilize a tunnel ram, or if they are just on for looks??

Do you have a side view of your engine. I want a side profile with those headers.
Thanks

I am sure more than you think are running the RPM'S

Oh, I'm sure they're out there, but how many are running them for power and how many for looks?

Im running an Offenhouser tunnel ram and I am quite happy with it. I ran a T ram to help clean up distribution because of the old piece of crap manifold that came with my boat. Oh yea, and it was cheep. I paid 50 bucks for it. I am running dual 450's so the boat feels like it has fuel injection, quick revs and tops out pretty good. I feel I am utilizing the benefits a tunnel ram offers.

how many rpm do you "think it takes" to run a tunnel ram????

Guy's as mentioned above. Wilson Manifolds are the best. I don't have one of there tunnel rams but I do have one of there spacers. I will tell you this I noticed a big difference in fuel distribution than just putting the carb. on without it. Customer service was real good to. I talk to the guy on the phone for over 30 minutes before I bought one. Told him my setup and he knew what would work best.
Also for what ever reason it took my leanness problem away.

Well, typically TR's are used in higher RPM applications. I have heard of people using them in street cars with good results also, so I'm not saying it cant be done, just typiccally...they do look killer tho :D
Is anyone running those screened intake gaskets?? I've heard that they help the lower RPM range when running a TR...

well my deal goes from idle to wide open and back to idle...thats it...so i guess it works for my application.

im running the screen type flame arrestors. i only have about half of the element on each filter. i dont really see those lowering your rpms though. with my motor and a bc impeller im running high enough rpms for a tunnel ram.

What makes a sheet metal t-ram beter than a cast aluminum t-ram? Is it the smoothness of the runners and ports of the sheetmetal vs. aluminum?...Hal

Sheetmetal T-rams have a straighter shot into each port.

I went with a Weiand tunnel ram purely for looks but ended up picking up 400-500RPM's on the top end which was a bonus in my book. Getting the carbs tuned in was a royal pain in the azz but once I got that handled the performance gains were fantastic. Plus they just look cool as hell.:D
