Im being mobilized to Kuwait

I wasnt going to mention this today...but its already been mentioned in a round about way in another thread, and the initial shock of receiving that phone call from my command this morning informing me Im being deployed to Kuwait for a year to support the U.S. Navy Customs TANGO has sunken in. I leave for Virginia August 3rd and from there "The Theater." My deployment is one year.
I was very lucky I didnt get deployed last year while my brother was batteling cancer. They have been perparing us for this day for a long time.
Being away from my Fiance'e {Atomickitn} ,who is my Angel, is going to be the most difficult part. He's been right by my side while my brother suffered horrible treatments of chemo therapy and lost his battle last year, and also being away from my family who is still grieving the loss of my brother.
I know our friends will make sure Bobby is ok for me, and please get your care packages ready for me.
Im proud to serve my country and knowing my family is here waiting for me will give me strength.

Thanks Wes...Our Cheif told us last month that Kuwait is the safest place you could go and get hazard duty pay. There will be Kuwaiti soldiers on the base Im going to...that is going to be strange.

What is funny is that in the 3 years we've been in we have never been sent to a ship. The ship we are attached to is a stag ship, so we have to stay in the barracks on 32nd street in San Diego.

Have a good time, it isn't everyday you get to go away on a paid vacation for a year, it is a life experence that will stay with you forever. You signed up for several different reasons. Thank you for making the decision to make a difference. It will go by so fast. My cousin is just back from his second tour, Firefighter USMC. The area is pretty safe now where you are going. Windy I add my family to the list of folks who sends out thanks to you for taking time out of living your life to serve our country. Were it not for you and the other selfless citizens in this nation willing to face the challenges of the future, our country would suffer.
My son served three years active Army, and my nephew is an E-5 (Infantry) and is now in Korea for a second tour after two tours in Iraq. From one military family to another, we salute you, thank you, and the flag flying on the 30 ft pole in my front yard is there to remind us all of the work you are doing.

Thanks Harry...half of my unit has already been there. The year books they come back with almost make it look like a fun place...visits from Carrie Underwood and Toby Keith.

wow taf that was a great time i remember her saying how cute they were, thanks for all the support , windy and i are going on our first cruiz ever, together for the first time, this is going to be one to never forget, and we are both looking forward to this especialy now. :) please tell them thanks for thinking of her ,and praying for her safe return, all thease comments are really helping to get us over the shock, soo far :) ...for the record I am very proud windy my ( soon to be wife )
