This just pisses me off, and sums it up: Name one City/Community/County that has benefited from Illegal Immigration:
From the L.A. Times
1. 40% of all workers in L. A. County (L.A. County has 10.2 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green card.
2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.
3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens
4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medical, whose births were paid for by taxpayers.
5. Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.
6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.
7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.
8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.
9. 21 radio stations in L.A are Spanish speaking
10. In L.A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 3.9 million speak Spanish.
(There are 10.2 million people in L.A. County).
11. Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare.
12. Over 70% of the United States ' annual population growth (and over 90% of California, Florida, and New York) results from immigration.
13. 29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

Last week Christie was able to find a shower curtain made in USA, I couldn't believe it.
I skipped avocados for a month because they were all imported from Chile, I
complained to the manager every week, asking what was wrong with the avocados grown here.

Written in response to a series of letters to the editor
in the Orange County Register:
Dear Editor:
So many letter writers have based their arguments on how
this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one,
suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because
the people now in question aren't being treated the same as
those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of
entry.
Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out
to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing
to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in
1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come
to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand
in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would
even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground.
They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new
country in good and bad times. They made learning English a
primary rule in their new American households and some even
changed their names to blend in with their new home. They
had waved good bye to their birth place to give their
children a new life and did everything in their pow er to
help their children assimilate into one culture.
Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare,
no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills
and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a
future of prosperity. Most of their children came of age
when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men
whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy ,
France and Japan. None of these 1st generation Americans
ever gave any thought about what country their parents had
come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini
and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United
States of America as one people.
When we liberated France , no one in those villages were
looking for the French-American or the German American or
the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans.
And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not
one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking
up another country's flag and waving it to represent who
they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents
who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants
truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the
melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.
And here we are in 2007 with a new kind of immigrant who
wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to
achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one
that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being
faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not
what being an American is all about. I believe that the
immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's
deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and
sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land
that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a
better life. I think they would be appalled that they are
being used as an example by those waving foreign country
flags.
And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of
Liberty , it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are
voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking
about dismantling the United States just yet.

Here's where you and I are different:
I reflected on the whole Bush plan. I pondered the alternatives. I didn't see any feasible alternative, so I supported it.
However, the people have spoken through their representatives on Capitol Hill, and the plan has been rejected, and I respect the system enough to accept it and look forward to some other reasonable, practical solution to the problem.
I was listening to KNX last night and the gentleman that was being interviewed had a very interesting point of view. He proposed, instead of spending $4.4 Billion on a fence and border agents, we create a system to easily and quickly verify legal citizenship of workers and spend the money on enforcing the laws already on the books.
I can get behind that 100%.
You remove the incentive for illegal immigration, the problem solves itself. They won't come over illegally if there is no easy reward waiting here for them.
Ya know, I kind of choke on this because of what my good friend Schaida points out (repetetively and screechingly) every time I open my piehole on this subject.
Unfortunately, to be a good American, I guess I have to become a bit of a hypocrite on this issue.

Stu, I got the impression that no one really knows. A lot of double talk, alot of differences in how the numbers were figured.....I guess it is a "new math" vs "old math" issue..........Sometime 2 and 2 don't equal 4, and sometime they do. The bottom line to me is I would like to try the US economy without the illegals here, we've already tried it with them here. If the economy tanks right after the illegals are shipped out I will be the first one to admit I am wrong about the whole issue. So, when do we start this test?? When will the illegals be out of the economic circle of things? No earnings, no entitlements, no impact either way, then we can really see how well the country does without them, or fails without them........All the studies in the world will never be able to come up with a real answer.
