Just curious as to whether anybody has seen any boats with really wild engines, like a Viper V10 or anything...
Anybody want to go halves on these?? :D :D :D

ive seen an old stevens flat with a wild chrysler i believe. the intake and exhaust was reversed. forced induction through the exhaust valves and out the intake. obviously a speacial cam was needed but it worked pretty good. now that was wild. boat rode nice too.

Seen a v-drive with a ford powerstroke turbo diesel that pushed 800 hp and 1120 ft lbs of torque, the thing spewed black smoke but kicked the crap out of some blown big blocks. Not really sure how the guy didn't get kicked off the lake.

There was a guy and his wife docked near us a while back that had an old Chris Craft style wooden speed boat (wasn't a Chris Craft but I don't remember what it was exactly) with a Grey Marine (AMC) 327...with a newer Vortech centrifigal super charger on it! There was a crowd gathered around on the dock asking him questions and drooling. Beautiful rigging, very unique boat. Somebody asked him how fast and he's like "Oh I dunno, maybe 48-50MPH." Not fast, but just cool as hell. Nobody was really paying any attention to the 400k Fountain that was floating 20 ft away. I tried to find pics on the web, but no luck. Anybody know this guy?

leave it up to dave to smack me around. :D thanks for the clearification dave. by the way that stevens was way cool. and the owner is one of the nicest guys to talk with. took me for a ride in it at big river and it was fun. but i just couldnt stop looking back at the engine. and after thinking about it for a sec, forced induction through the small ports and exhaust through the larger ports sure made sence to me.

Saw this boat at the Plowman gathering last year.... Not that there is anything odd about a smallblock Chevy, just the extra plumbing gave it a unique look. :D

For some years I've thought(if I had the $) to build a 21-22 ft twin jet(two dumps) powered by a twin turbo'd 5.9 inline 6 Cummins: 800 hp 1100 lbs ft of trq. I think that would be cool.

Can you tell us more about this boat? Its obviously an Allison turbine and I see a Nye decal on it so I assume they bought drive output parts from Mark
Drag setup? definatly an interesting boat! 300+ Hp and 125 lbs, is that enough to be impressive? Ive always wondered that myself about the little Allisons. I know that was the engine Mark put in his first Turbine boat.....

The story I get is that it usually runs around 83 mph, but ran 90 or so this past weekend at Lake Anna, Va. The owner lives fairly close to me, and I will get some info from him. He is a retired helicopter mechanic. I believe there was a writeup in Hot Boat mag, May issue.

Hey Goad,
Look were it's mounted. Your ski rope better have a 3 foot steel lead on it. And even then, you better have a fire retardant glove to get it off.;)
Not sure if the skier would be visable, had better stay on the left hand side:confused:

Yes it is. He does have a couple more boats. The turbine boat is probably the slowest one he has!
