Hi guys,
I'm getting ready to assemble the engine in my LS6
454 and i've got a clearance question. The crank is the
original LS6 forging (7416) and it's never been turned.
I keep seeing different #s for the journals. Mains at
2.7481-2.7495 and Conn at 2.1985-2.2000. I've also
seen that they are ground at 2.1985-rod and
2.748-main. Mine read;
#1 main - 2.7482
#1&2 conn - 2.1987
#2 main - 2.7486
#3&4 conn - 2.1986
#3 main 2.7483
#5&6 conn - 2.1988
#4 main - 2.7487
#7&8 conn - 2.1989
#5 main - 2.7477
Did Chevy grind them a little more for more clearance?
Every time I turn around I see some different #'s, what's the
best for a 550-600hp jet application? Thanks Guys!!!

Ok I'll go first:D
If the crank is straight, the journals are round and not scored, the rods have been re-sized and are round (big end), and the align bore is straight, those numbers will be fine. Use a mic and a dial bore gauge, pick through a couple sets of bearings, and run it. You might end up with minus .001 bearings.
Have fun :)

Yeah "providing" all that stuff has been done, and what's the taper from side to side??, myself I'd just turn the crank and have it "right" instead of fiddling with bearing sizes!..
