Hey Boo-Boo! We're going to Jellystone Park!
Actually we are headed to Montana via Zion, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Park. We are helping some friends build a log cabin about 4 hours north of Missoula. Figured we'd strap on the cramper and see some parks along the way. I know some of you have been to these places. What are some of the "must sees"? I hear there is some good eatin' in Jackson. :D Any campground recommendations or places not to stay?
If we have time, we might hit the 90 west and cruise down the coast. We have to be back by the 9th of July, though, so the boy can start middle school (year round out here  ).
Going to watch "A River Runs Through It" tonight. However, I hope to get some real flyfishing lessons while we're up there.

My Uncle has a ranch North of Missoula small town Arlee the most breathtaking scenery anywhere. I was offered an opportunity when graduating HS to move and build it bigger. Hindsight is 20-20. I promise if never been there will never forget people are great there also as long as check the "CITY" attitude at the door these are real people. Have fun

I've not lived in a city since 1978, so I hope that I don't have the city mentality. I'm looking forward to getting away from So Cal, that is for sure.

4 hours north of Missoula..dam your almost in Canada...
Watch the movie, and stop by the Blackfoot river outside Missula, where they filmed it at, been there a few times, the hatch should be going off now and the fishing should be going off. dont remember wht flies we used, my buddy is a fly fishing whoorre and lives in Helena, he knows the rivers very well.
Hopefully you have reservations in Yellowstone, it is a three day event just to see the sights, it is a must see. Plus the roads are usally a mess due to construction.
If I were a hater I would be hatin you right now!!! but Im not damit..send pictures.:D

Mom, Dad, a teenage daughter, and a pre teen son all in the same 8 foot Cramper for 3-4 weeks. This has the makings of a Griswald family vacation if ever there was one.
My daughter will likely hate us by the end of the first week. Should be real fun when she finds out that there is no electricity where we are staying yet. Oh yea I bet she spins a bearing when she finds out I have to install plumbing before she can take 1/2 hour showers. This is gonna be fun.

I took a trip like the one you guys are taking about 6 years ago, ended up living in Bozeman for a couple of years.
We ended up staying at a lot of KOAs. They usually have the nice "camp" grounds.
Teton Nat. has some nice camp grounds, it could be hard to find a spot but I'd stay there before Yellowstone Nat. You can day trip it into Yellowstone.
I would recomend Livingston, MT. for a must visit. Try to find a camping place in Paradise Valley, south of Livingston. The yellowstone river is a good river to learn the fly fish on(with a guide). In Livingston there is a fly fishing museum type of place, during the week they give free casting leasons. Above the museum is Sweet Water Guide, they are good guides and even have a guide school.
The Madison River, about 1 1/2 away from Livingston is also a very good if not better river. The town of Ennis is also very nice little town.
Stay away form Butte, MT. Unless you want to go to the Brothel Museum.
Don't camp in East Glacier, way to wind and the town hs nothign in it, west glacier is much better.
As far a Montana is concerned you don't have to go much east of Livingston, maybe hit Rock creek. Might see if you can get a guide trip to there.
Roads that are fun to drive: Going to The Sun Highway. Bear Tooth Pass.

You and Angie have to go in the Cowboy Bar (forgot the actual name) in Jackson Hole. The seating at the bar are saddles. World famous and a lot of fun.
Get ready for a lot of views like this:

Oh, yeah, we've seen it. Hilarious.
Tom, do you remember if that bar in Jackson served grub?
Any bets if SW is going to flip his lid when he finds out I made reservations at a hotel on our camping trip? :D I was just thinking he might like a little privacy after 5 days on the road in the camper  . We'll see what he says when he gets home tonight.

Try Bubba's BBQ, on the main street going thru town, outstanding!!! Also, don't forget to steal the really cool salt and pepper shakers. Have a great trip. Check out the Elk ranch just out side of town on the way to Yogi land.

That's just great :(
One other time I was sure we were in a haunted place was in Napa. TV was on in the other room all night (except nobody was in there!), very hot then very cold in the room, some kind of extremely wierd vibe, couldn't sleep, etc. Changed rooms with Sincal and they had the same experience. We both agreed the friggin' place was haunted.

I'll try to post pics, but I honestly don't think we will be anywhere where there is internet connection. Heck, the place we're staying at in Montana has no phone at all cellular, land line, or otherwise.
