whew i'm burnt. it was hotter than hell this weekend in bako.
was too hot to wrench on the boat friday afternoon so we all left the pit and headed for the greatest mexican joint on earth. 12 people + dinner + too many tecate's and the bill was only like 210 bucks.
the finish line bar got wrecked both firday and saturday night by red cup racing.
RCB may never be the same. the 302 kicked his rods out good.
Saturday I spent the whole day under the boat changing loaders, shoes, shims etc trying to get my boat to stay hooked up all the way down the track. motor was running bitchin even in the hot air.
ran a couple of 8.85's at 117 mph and change but nothing great. made 2 or 3 half track passes where the boat just blew the tail 300 feet past the starting line.
Sunday i hit paydirt with the hardware, the boat finally came around and ran an 8.70 at 120 mph against Blue Wonder in round one of ubfj. we both red lit but mine was worse and he beat me good.
I had entered the 9.00 bracket so i was screwed and had to try and slow the boat down to run it. Steve Rauscher took me out when i unsuccessfully fender raced my way to a 9.37 et.
aside from the drink fest at the bar, those were the highlights for me.
maybe hbjet can throw up some video later on.
who's got the pics?
thanks to HB for the awesome pit work. you are a trooper. Thanks for the Red Cup crew for ignoring my loud generator and letting me slide into their pit for the weekend. and thanks to Brule, Ebbert, McClure, Warrick, Braun, Starkweather, Williams and all the other guys that helped me out. :)

frank nagor's tfj qualified #1 in 7.50 bracket with 7.51. later runs a beautiful 7.37 pass. in the final of 7.50 he goes against hot tub and hicks isn't fooling around. you don't often see then put the bottle in for that class but they had it in this time. i thought it might be the race of the day for jets but nagor aborted early in the run. hot tub ran 7.60 to win.
best race of the day turned out to be the last one. 8.50 final. braun's daytona vs a flat. both ran 8.54 and .4 react time. braun won by thousandths of a sec.

How did Fuentes do?
Took runner up in Blown Gas Jet ... had starting issues in the Finals, Tom Cress took the win.
He tried a new impeller on Saturday that didn't work well ... went back to his previous set up with an impeller from Mike (cyclone) and it was back to 8.50's at 129 mph ...

No ... Willis made a valient effort to make it happen, but had blower issues.
Ron had Jeff Smith ("place your bets" boat) in the first round and won, which advanced him into the finals against Tom Cress. Then he couldn't keep it fired when it went green, Tom made a good pass ... all BGJ's were having issues this weekend ... the weather was hot and not helping with tune up's.

Wow what a weekend. I have been to a lot of races but never experienced the thrill of actually going down the track and all I can say is that it was incredible. Through out the weekend the boat picked up two tenths running its quickest pass of a 10.03 at 101 mph. For the price of $200 (100 to license 100 or play) river racer is well worth it. I gained more knowledge in my six passes than I ever could have on the river.
The Finish line bar at the red lion will never look the same. RCR put the hurt on that place almost as bad as the dragon hurt the wonder.:D
Thanks to the entire MPD pit and Jack Mclure for all there help over the weekend. I would also like to thank Joe and Heather, brad, Ross and most importantly my Crew Chief CS for all the help and support in getting the boat to where it is thus far. I would also like to thank Brian Busby for all his help. More than once he was checking my safety gear to make sure it was on properly or giving me advice on what to work on. To say this man hurt the sport is ridiculous. Thanks for a great weekend and looking forward to doing it again. FREE PARIS

Don't take it personally there bud, and the reason I am not going to go race a 120mph boat is I know I won't stand a chance. Sure I will pair up for fun, but I wouldn't claim I was bringing the heat. I am just agreeing with Cyclone that if someone wants to race him, they can come find him. No need to travel down to LL or where ever and not have anyone there to make the trip worth while.
LL was the place to be back in the day and I am sure there are some great races there from time to time. But for Memorial Weekend the turn out from what I saw on Saturday was more like a typical weekend. Maybe the 4th will be better. :D

Nothing personal taken, Randy. That's the point of doing this-FOR FUN. There is no(and NEVER HAS BEEN), any $$$ to be made racing fun boats ie: Drag Boats. That's why it doesn't really bother me to line up with John, or Mike for that matter, and lose. It's for kicks. I have a small Iron motor with small heads and no happy tank. If I decide to get serious with the boat, I'll change it to a Big Aluminum motor with Big heads. You'll know if I decide to do that, and so will #999, lol. Have fun up at BR over the 4th. RR

HMMMM heard the same thing.;)
I heard there was some talk about something new I think I have a pic, lets see, here it is, Check out slow burns crews new set up. got to say its leaving real hard,Rumor is its only an 800 horse N/A mill I call (LIE)sure is faster than mine in the 1/8 th. Cub scout (blue orange and white) has been put on a diet and added a Ski Tow. Its been said that nothings changed other then that (lie) sure is faster than mine in the 1/8 th. I believe that the middle boat might not even make the show, Shes going to be turned out to pasture, old girl has a problem getting out of the gate, but who knows, the new horse might not run and I`ll have to bring old girl out. Might have to call the AHA crew WHITE LIE RACING.
hope to c you all on the 4th will be there for the next 3 weekends

So Randy. How come we don't see YOU race a 120 mph piece???????????? YOU might not look too impressive either.. Jordon's boat runs hard, but according to the video I have, I made up 5-6 boats on him by the time the rollers come and shut us down(yes, he's still ahead by a boat when we both shut down-so he wins).
We'll be at LL over the week, but, I do cruise up to BR every couple days. C you guys as we float by. RR
i'm ready for a rematch any time you are and i'll stay in it longer so you can make up those 5 or 6 boat lengths. :D
still waiting for my copy of the video. lol

That'll be the day!!! All I need is a happy tank and about $3,000 of setup work and we'll be smiling side by side at the thousand foot mark. Nah,,,, your safe for this year Mike. I'm still trying to get mine to leave without the romper room bucking pony routine. I might come down to the Quin to WATCH on Saturday(no racing for me per my supervisor). I've got that disc at a copying place. Have to call and see if they're ready yet. C ya there. RR
