View Full Version : HP 500 EFI problems?

Anyone have or had heating problems or any issues with HP500 EFIs...seems to be a theme going on from people I ask. Guys say they had over heating issues or had to do head work early.

A 100 hours no problems and change the impeller at 88 hours. No over heating problems...
PS. I think that is an excuse that guys have told their wife’s to put aluminum heads on that motor to get the extra HP out of it!!!!

I have about 90 hrs on my, Gary Teague completed a 100 hr service and suggested that my temp gauge was off. When it read 180 she was running about 20 degrees cooler. Take it in and have someone double check with senors.

My boat is a 2000 with a 500EFI, 8 seasons and no problems.You need to make sure that you are changing the impeller once a year,or every other year.The other problem could be if your drive has a low water pickup,the old style, they were like Hoover vacumes and would suck up alot of sand.

yeah the impeller seemed to have been worked.
