need shifter

I have a Biesmeyer 21', Berk JC. Need a shifter and shift cable. It's pretty stiff right now, I'm wondering if I can go to a heavier cable. And the shifter is really old, but the cable is probably only 3-4 years old. I going low budget on the shifter, looks like Rex has the best deal at about $90.:)

Anyone use a heavier shift cable than Rex has?

the 43 series cable is adequate for this. I think its rated for like 80 lbs pull & 70 push or something like that...I was installing mine last nite(from rex) It is plenty stout for this job.

If you want to go bigger you will need to see if the hold down bracket will fit the sheath on the cable. If not chances are you will have to make one, kind of a pain.
