If such an airline or route existed would you fly it, and if so what would you be willing to pay?
Seems like you could set up a route that would fly Fri-Mon maybe twice a day from OC (SNA?)and/or IE (Ontario?) to Havasu from Apr-Oct. I have no idea what it would cost to run one, but wondering if it were available would you fly it?

Yes, I would just need a launch truck to keep at the Havasu house.

I would look at it more as a convenience than a cost savings. Hell, I'd pay $350 round trip just to not have to deal with me personally driving, coyotes, dumbchits and tumble weeds.

It would probably cost $600 a person round trip. It would be bumpy and if you had to go through regular security it would take longer to get there then drive. But if people wanted to pay, not go through all of the security stuff then it could work. You could do the flight in about an hour.

In the late 80's we would fly out of the Imperial terminal at LAX. I remember 1 time where we got there and turns out they lost our reservation. So we decided to drive. Turns out the plane had some problems and never left. :D I also flew out of the O.C. a couple times. It just never seems that the airlines can make any money.

the convenience is the truth, however, i could drive back and forth from work and home 3 or 4 times for that kinda cash...
better keep it cheap, for me... and I want a good movie (a short one) with some popcorn and a cocktail waitress...:D

The movie will consist of clips spliced together from You Tube, we will have a East bound movie and a West bound movie with a rotation of movies every week. Popcorn will have to be microwaved and there will be a big jar of Planters Peanuts and a 40oz of Coors Light passed around for everyone to share :D .
Andy and H1986 are probably right about cost and security. My wife has flown out of Havasu on American, I've seen their security... I wonder if you were to fly out of Signature or one of the other FBOs if you could minimize the down time for security.
Ah hell it's all a pipe dream, but it would be cool if someone could pull it off. American has a shuttle to Phx, but OC --> PHX --> Havasu isn't an option.

So what are going to do with the plane and crews from Oct to April??
Scenic Airlines in Vegas is starting to run some smaller routes here in the west, maybe someone should approach them and see if a seasonal run would be feasible.
Or some of the Ballers in here could pitch in and buy a nice King Air 350.. I know where you can find at least one pilot... :D

If it's a regularly scheduled deal... you'd have to run through the TSA security... dems da rules. Anything that would be regarded as regular service is going fall under the same operating rules as the big airlines, so there is more expense there also.
If it's a charter type operation, for now the rules are a little more lax since the charter company has tighter control over who flies on their airplanes and who doesn't.

About two years ago there was a small airline that had direct flights out of Ontario, CA. If you lpanned ahaed it was 150.00. If you waited till the last minute it was about 350.00. I would leave my house and show up in Havasu in 3 hours. Normally a 4 hour trip driving and have done much shorter just not ticket friendly. The best part was you could sit in the channel all day on sunday. Call a Taxi and have them take you to the airport. The rides home were way quicker becuase there is no cecurity at havasu and you could be home in 2 hours.
I REALLY HOPE SOMONE WILL DO IT AGAIN!! We did it about 5 times and would do it 500 nore times. It makes those Friday night to sunday trips much easier and more relaxing.

I believe that was Pacific Coast Airlines. 1 plane - twin engine. Flew it a couple of times.

Vision was talking about doing that between Vegas and Lake Powell... still in the planning stages I guess.
Oh,, and Sleek,, I think you need and additional crew member for this...

I would do it for $200 or so. Cost that much in gas alone to drive.

I was flying from Ramona to Page, flying right over Lake Havasu (the sandbar anyways) on a weekly basis,, out on friday afternoon and back early monday morning.. couldn't get any takers.

I've got the hook up at an FBO in Ontario.
If you wanted to fly to Havasu the best thing to do would be to find a few people that would like to fly as well and charter a plane. There is no security when flying out of the FBO. When flights arrive or depart the limos or whatever other vehicle you are using pulls right up to the airplane you then step onto red carpet and walk up onto the plane.
I can get you access to just about any plane you want. Leer, Gulfstream, Citation, King Air, etc.
It won't be cheap but if you get a large enough group together it could be reasonable.

We fly regulary out of long beach the trip takes 2 hours in a piper and for the way back it takes 2 hours 15 minutes, due to being redirected for traffic.
My friend is the pilot and he belongs to a flight club, we pay for the plane based on the air time, so we can have the plane for the weekend play in havi and takeoff on sunday or monday.
the cost is usually around $400, in my book worth every penny, especially if you split it with 3 people.
Taking off at 1:00pm on friday for havi this weekend.

I'm still in Valley Center CA. Might be here another month,,, Might be here 6 months. I really don't know yet. I was supposed to go to either Shiprock to build a hotel, Globe, AZ to do another casino expansion, or Snottsdale to do the Mall renovation...
I'm only going home every other weekend now so I'm flying commercial.

I will end up there, more than likely. The local govt in Shiprock can't seem to get their sh*t together long enough to approve the ground for the Hotel. (and this surprises you, I'm sure)
First round is on me.

I remember the days of McCulloch and the Bonanza airlines flying out of Ontario for 30 bucks a wack. Four prop, 12 passengers one hour 15 minutes later you're there. At that time we landed on the old airport on the island where our mobile home was, just walked 20 yards and i was home. I would love to see a flight running again.
