That's my kinda camping! :D :D
Looking for info on RV hookups and favorite campsites, shorline, etc.....
Usually find the best info on HB, then call the marinas to confirm! ;)

The Roosevelt RV park is right across the street from the Marina entrance. Full hook ups, and I think 20 dollars a day or something like that. Pretty basic but really close to the lake.
Spring Creek Resort has a large RV park with hook ups, it's on the Globe side of the lake at the bottom of the hill. There is a store and a restaurant there as well.
The FS camp grounds aren't to bad, semi-close to the water, but of course no hook ups. People bring their honda generators and run them all night. In the last few years I've been going there, I haven't seen a ranger, just a sherriff dept. truck drives through once a day checking camping permits.
With the water down, there are a few places you can get your RV right down on the water as well.

Here's a little blurp from the Forest Service:) Here's a link to the site:)
http://www.forestcamping.com/dow/southwst/tontinfo.htmTonto National Forest]
"The historic Apache Trail Scenic Byway begins (or ends) at Roosevelt Lake Dam. Nearby are four recreational vehicle (RV) and motorhome-friendly campgrounds scattered along the lake's shore. The Forest Service's innovative Cholla, with flush toilets and hot showers, is the largest all-solar powered campground in the United States. Windy Hill, with 339 sites, is the largest campground in the Tonto National Forest and is designed so all the campsites have a view of surrounding mountains. Indian Point and Schoolhouse, located at the north and south ends of the Lake, are the newest campgrounds. These campgrounds might be considered primitive but their spacious sites, magnificent views, and quiet surroundings make them a favorite. A centrally located RV waste station provides for the needs of RVrs. As the largest lake in Arizona, Roosevelt Lake is ideal for all water sports and fishing, and has challenging hiking nearby."

Well, it seems Monsoon season is whenever one pops up! I've seen them on the river and Needles from June through October!
Every year I shoot for a week trip on a BIG lake over the July 4th holiday. We've done a few in Central/Nor Cal, done Mead, etc. '
Looking in the 400 mile radius from home, Roosevelt looks like it could be our next stop!
I only ask for campsites near the water, so the boat can stay moored overnight. I don't like pulling it off every day, nor do I like walking 5 miles to a marina each night to tie!!
Of the sites mentioned, which one would be the best bet for keeping the boat close? I don't need full hookups, just water and power, we'll use the campsite "facilities" and don't mind moving once during the week to dump the tanks (so long as there is a dump station in camp somewhere!)
BTW: this will be next years trip. This year we already booked Berryessa. :)

Unless you have a big anchor or hide back in a cove somewhere(which I still wouldn't trust) Not many boats stay overnight in the water unless they have a slip at the Marina. Being close to the water depends on how full the lake is, if its up around 80% full not to bad. Anything under 50% its a bit of a walk. I'm trying to make a day trip up there pretty soon, I'll do some more Recon. The lake changes monthly it seems with the all the new water and shore line its hard to tell what you'll get any given weekend.
I also have a ton of Roosevelt Lake pics on Webshots, just search by azkcbc

This lake has some of the best bass fishing in the west right now, alot of 8# plus,If thats your thing. Its not very popular for some reason. During the week it will take disipline to use a ski flag cause no one will see it.If you can go without hookups, camp at Horse Pasture on the Tonto arm right on the water, with your boat floating in front of you.Keep an eye on the sky it can get real nasty pretty Quick.
