Is it too rough for a hydro?

Ceasers Creek lake is pretty smooth. It's not a very big lake.

Do you have any flyers or rules and regulations?

Shirkey,
Mapquest says only 186 miles from Charleston. Wonder if we could get away with the hydros up there?
No baffles or registration on my river hydro.

So if I show up with an 8 second 135 mph blown gas hydro with zoomies I'm cool?? I just might mosey on down...

I'll see if I can find out about the noise laws although I don't think it's an issue. I do know that it's a "dry" area. no booze. I would like to see taylorchet elaborate a bit here. :)

PE857, by the looks of detroitjims post you had better take the 8 sec 152 mph boat. Maybe they will post the rules and regulations for that area. Think Leland and Paul will go?

As long as it is "organized" and "controlled" for "exhibition", normal Ohio state watercraft rules do not apply. No registration, water in exhaust, noise, etc. I did not hear about this last year or I would have been there.
This no water patrol thing sounds interesting, since everytime I have been there, they were like flies on schit and ready and willing to enforce the no alcohol rules of the park. I will definitely be there this year. Probably will take the Jet if the wife goes. If she doesn't, the flatbottom will be there.

Well here is the report. I just called the Ohio Div of Watercraft. I asked about noise restrictions.
-90 dB measured 30" from the exhaust at the waterline.
They also have a shoreline test:
75 dB standing at any point on shore.
I can't relate as to how this is going to work for the guys running zoomies. Need to find out if this thing is like Bigjetdaddy explains.

No numbers required: see Ohio revised code section 1547.53 which basically says no registration required for organized event as long as event promoter submits a waiver form, which I THINK is a free process.
ORC 1547.20 says basically that all state requirements are "suspended" for such organized event.
Who are the promoters of the event, and was the waiver filed?

idea Back to Taylorchet on this one...(where the hell is he anyway?)
Speaking of, where do you go for this waiver?

BigJetDaddy
09-18-2003, 10:49 AM
I would guess that it is available at any ODNR district office. Look like it goes directly to the chief of the watercraft division. Below is from the ORC.
ยง 1547.20 Permission for conducting special water events.
No person or organization shall conduct any race, regatta, or other special event upon the waters in this state without first obtaining written permission, upon application not less than thirty days prior to the time of the proposed race, regatta, or event, of the federal agency, state department, conservancy district, or political subdivision having jurisdiction and control over such waters. Any state department, conservancy district, or political subdivision may suspend its respective rules during a race, regatta, or special event. Nothing in this section shall be construed to mean that the operator of a vessel competing in a specially authorized race, regatta, or special event shall not attempt to attain high speeds on a marked racing course.

Also from the ORC:
Watercraft exempt from numbering by the state are:
(G) Those temporarily using the waters in this state under a waiver issued by the chief to an organization sponsoring a race, regatta, or special event. The chief may issue a waiver upon application by the sponsoring organization at least fifteen days before the date of the proposed race, regatta, or special event

Sangster, this boat was once owned by Rick Mears the Indy car driver as I was told by the previous owner, who saw pictures of Rick with the boat. It is a Sanger drag hydro converted to a two seat river hydro.
