Started the boat for the first time this year. On the trailer. It started right up, but I had a poping sound coming from the odd side. I though it was out of time, but it wasn't, so I pulled the plugs and #3 plug looked like you hit it with a hammer. I have never had any clearance problems in the past. There was no noise coming from the motor, like clanging, just the poping from the exhaust. This motor has been in for 12 years. What do you think? Thanks

Look for bearing material in the filter.

I suspect that a valve seat fell out and is hanging around the valve. This is usually also an indication of a crack running into the seat pocket.

How come you are on the pc and not working on the boat or baking a cake?
I have been porting most of the day and have about 3 hrs left. Then the cast heads are off to the machine shop.

and not working on the boat or baking a cake? Baked apple cobbler last night as a matter of fact. AND I just came in for some water and decided to take a peek. Actually, Im outside underneath my blazer with a pressure washer and 409 trying to clean up all my shocks and shock boots. Cant have dirty shock boots, just isn't right. :D

Been there done that. Thats why I bought a new pickup, no lift or big tires for me anymore. I had a Ranger pu once with 38" tires and a 302 ford shoved in it. Fun but not to practical.
