Because he had one sitting in the garage?
That's what I'd say too...for the "cool" factor.

Nice :D
Tha's some funny chit - - - - a re-entry device. I have heard a lot of people say a lot of things about my boat, but that tops them all!
Thanks! I'm still laughin!

To help stop the boat after a high speed run cuz sometimes brakes alone are not enough.

I have't responded yet because of the enterainment value of this thread but I know it is killing everyone so here goes:
Yes, it is a parachute, actually a Deist 300mph.
We sold our Nostalgia Funny Car and I had actually 2, so why not. The other I am using on our 1948 Crosley competition coupe, currently under construction to run at Bonneville in maybe '08, if $ permits.
It is functional, but disabled.
NO, I never intend on using it. Its just for the cool factor.
Brakes? Is that what the pedal on the left is for?
Hard nipples . . . . . . . . . have't thought of that one . . . . . . . . . . .

Aren't marine chutes different from funny car chutes?

Blown Fuel Flatbottoms had chutes on them back in the 70's. The idea was to staighten the boat out when they got too far out of shape. There where some pictures taken at Ming years ago of some Fuel Flats with a fully blossomed chute. Maybe some of you have some of these PICS? Jim Lange

Parachute????...that's a deployable life jacket for the boat secretly disguised as a chute in the event of a water landing....pretty sure!

The psychiatrists are still out on LSR. Hopefully they'll stay that way for a while, that gives him time to build more on this time machine. Damn, I let the cat out of the bag! Now everyone will know the true purpose of the machine. Sorry Scott, but they'd have figured it out someday anyway.

Hey LSR, if you make it out to El Mirage look me up. I'll be on "THE BAR". If I'm not, They'll know where to find me!
