I know Miller has always been tried and true and seems to be attempting a come back with the new 23' evolution (not wood deck all glass). Also you can still buy the original 19', 20' mini cruiser and the sprinter.

Next thing you know you guys will be getting a toon.:D If I lived there though, I think I would want one of those jets or V-drive boats to speed around the lake during the weekdays also. Good luck in finding something.

Danny (badblown) is building boats out of the old howard custom cruiser mold. these did very well as jets.
not that I would own one, but the yamaha and sea doo boats are pretty well appointed.

As before mentioned BB572 could build you a pretty sick jet.. (my 1st choice)
Ultra makes jets (21' Day cruiser style)
Cobra makes a sporty little 19 (I think it's 19 anyways)
Carrera makes a few different models that are pretty nice
Aftershock still makes a few models
Liberator
etc.. etc..
Come to think of it, there's a shitload of people still making jetboats. ;)
I don't think I'd get one of those ultra low freeboard dealios if I was you though.

As a skiier and wakeboarder, how is the wake and jetwas behind those. The Yamaha dealer (Yes I know that is a Sea Doo) said the wake behind the Yamaha230 was small which is good for skiing but bad for wakeboarding.

For god sakes, and I mean it in all sincerity,, stay away from Sea Doo.
We just sold our POS.
Bombardier, in 10 years of making Jet Boats has still not resolved their problems.
Problems too numberous to list. Just Awful.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f18/tpc123/rivertrip019.jpg
I've ownd 11 new boats.
Though extreemly fast, this is the only boat I hated.
Absolute shit.
We just sold our 2006 430 Hp Sea Doo.
Nothing but problems.
Ya can't trim them. The entire line of Sea Doo Boats porpouses terribly. No resolution, no fix what-so-ever to this continuing problem. None.
Bad driver vision when ya turn to pick up a Skier, ya can't see on-coming boat traffic,, burned about 1/2 mile per gallon, That's two gallons per mile of premium.
The towers sway & rattle like the pots and pans on the chuckwagon in the cowboy movies - NO fix from Bombardier at all, none.
It looks ridiculous and sounds awful when you're underway. Embarrassing really.
Have the wife beat a metal pie pan with a hammer inches from from your head for hours would be a good example of what we're talking about.
Towing a wakeboarder: You're dealing with jet cavatation resulting in intermittant speeds. It sux, and I'm pretty good at hauling skiers and wakeboarders if I'm good at anything.
Any sort of current change and your speed while towing pukes, speedo, (if working) drops off sharply, your wakeboarder sinks.
Perfect pass is passe', klunky old technology. On top all that, it doesn't lend itself well with twin engines IMHO.
The boat trader is full of 2006's at fire sale prices because the owners are fed up.<--read this again.
Just my 2 cents worth,, save yourself grief.
I could go on for pages. One needs to wear rodeo clown makeup and costume driving these.
I see any Hot Boater writing a check for one of these POS I'm grabbing your pen and breaking it.
Burning through pump bearings, usually won't start,,,, snap'd stearing linkage resulting in near catrascopic collision (s),,, aux tank pump failure, fiberglass cracking, bilge filling with water from who knows where,,, on and on, bla bla bla,,, nag nag nag,,,,,, yabba dabba, yaba dabba,, bla-zay, bla-zay, bla-zay,,, yap yap yap,,,,,,
Damn,, I'm glad it's gone.

My buddy just got rid of his sea-doo boat. He sold his Advantage Deck Boat and had bought the dual jet sea doo boat for the family. He had problems from the second trip out on that thing, tons of crap and not nearly as pleasurable as the Advantage, and I know that part first hand.
But anyway to cut the story short he sold that POS and got another American boat, a Cheeteah and has loved it since.

Why do you want an 18-20 jetboat even for the week? For that matter why would you want to spend the money on a brand new one? I'm just curious...
I'm a jet guy because I like the lower river, but for havasu I hate jets...I would buid a bad ass v-drive cruiser before I ever forked up for a new jet just to run tue-wed. For that matter I would buy a cole I/O skier. But I guess your thinking is if you buy new you don't need to turn a wrench? I'm just trying to figure it all out.

I have been seriously thinking about it.....
I had a Sea Doo twin jet for many years. The maintenance on the 2-strokes wasn't bad, and maintenance on jets is pretty simple. My boat did porpoise at the slightest provocation, but you can buy trim tabs for them (I never did). Dunno about the deadrise on the new ones, but mine would beat you to death on anything more than one-footers. That said, please do your homework before diving into one of these. Check out the sea doo jetboat forum, and flag one down on the lake or at the ramp and ask an owner. I have never found a dealership with a service department competent with the boats. Bombardier has awful customer service. Parts are expensive and they will break (one of my start/stop switches crapped out on me. It was a simple 12volt momentary switch that Bombardier wanted $74 for). When the stator on one of my alternators shorted, it fried the computer. New alternator was $400 and the new computer was $1000. Had to replace it because the whole computer was potted and the 25-cent part that fried couldn't be tested or serviced. Open the hatch on one and take a look at the size of the fuel line (you may overlook it at first, thinking it is a coolant hose); they inhale gas and the supercharged ones use premium. There is no wood in the construction, and the hulls are phenomenally strong (don't ask how I know) but they are buzzy and rattly and little stuff tends to break or fall off. They don't do 60 (according to boattest.com), but high 50s is respectable and they do have a killer holeshot. You can spin em, submarine 'em, and it is really cool to hear the engines bounce off the rev limiter as you launch off every other wave. Like everything in life, they have good and bad points, just please do some research so you know what you are getting into and are not surprised as it begins nickle-and-dimeing you to death.
