I'm in Minnesota...I've never heard of any jetboat get togethers, but I have seen groups of some pretty sleek boats on the river before. I really havent seen too many jets up here, but they are around...:D

Yea, my little 16 footer doesnt like them barge wakes much!! Gets kinda hairy depending on where you are, but there are places to go. I generally stick to lakes, as my family has a cabin on Cedar...

Prior Lake is not too bad but does have a speed limit on weekends. It would be nice to see some more rooster tails on the same lake...lets go.

Yeah I live up in Coon Rapids...So I run at the lakes to the north....I never even see any other jet boats out on the lakes up here....at least not real ones..... Lots of poser Sea Doos...
Speed limit ? That won't work for me, won't find me on that lake ever..... We may have to look at setting up going to one of the local lakes in July..

I think a Minnesota Hot Boat get together would rock. Find a lake somewhere middle of the state say in the Alex area, that way when your on the edge of the state you dont have to drive 400 miles. I am in Climax, Mn couple miles from North Dakota and about 95 to Canada, or 50 miles north of Fargo, Nd.

If ya care, there are some jet boats in the lakes area around D.L. and Ottertail. I live 50 miles south of Fargo on the N.D. side, and there's a few jets here. I keep getting the boot off M.N. lakes because of the noise :( . Seems to be a tough racket in that area.

we just had a small get together on the CHAIN of lakes here in alexandria. had 6 jet boats and several other hot boats. was a good time and the law left us alone!! most of our boats have O/T headers with silencers but still plenty load.. planning on another later this summer. no date set. open to ideas if anyone wants to come the more the better.....cell 320-766-4846 Darrell

There are a few jets around Duluth, we hang with about 10 or so boats we hang with pretty much every weekend, from outboards, to IO's, pickleforks, hydros, I think there are only two jets, including me. Nothing fast, I think the fastest boat in the group runs in the lower 80's.

If enough people are interested I would be willing to talk to the game warden to see what they are like as far as noise, and Check on some hotels, but I am guessing it would be a bitch to get rooms. DL has a nice beach with a few bars on it, and always good looking ladies.
Let me know if you are up for something and what weekend in late July early August would work for you. Also let your friends know doesn't mater if it is jets or V-drives or Outboards as long as it's a Hot Rod Boats. You know what I mean, no offence to the rest of you.

Well so far thats three boats, thirty would be better! Come on people, how many times have you seen the posts of the west coasters, and wished you were getting together with a bunch of other jets? I know I have, hell even at three boats it would be more Jets than I have seen together at once. I have two so I can see that anytime.

Been workin my ass off on my boat floor, carpet, new engine, built a diffrent engine hatch, built new wrap around rear seat frame.
Interior guy Quoted me $550-650 to do the seats and pad and cover the hatch. Today I get him to show up after waiting for 10 days of I'll be there tomorrow. Now the price is $1000+ and a month to do it. Oh if I could do to that SOB what I would like it would require a wet vac to dispose of his worthless ass. Really pissed me off when he said I was lying about his previous quote.
So first thing Thursday I am off in search of someone to get this done, I dont care what they charge just as long as my money isn't going to that forging cork soaker!!

a lot of nice rigs up the st.croix but a bit rough
I used to work in Lake City and Redwing , we always had the nice ones heading for Wabasha & LaCrosse a lot more easy on speed and noise regulations
not a jetter myself I like the outboards

It is looking like the weekend of August 18th and 19th. Not sure how many people are going to show. I know of 3 boats besides me. I talked to another guy in Grand Forks today with a V-Drive and told him about it, he seemed interested also. Keep telling your friends, when I get a little caught up I will check on lodging and some local hotels in Detroit Lakes and also talk to the Zorbas and see if they are interested in doing anything for us.
It doesnt need to be a jet just needs to be bad!
Let me know if you are coming so I get an idea on numbers.

At least if you guys wait until mid July or August all the ice fishing houses will be off the lake and you shouldn't have to dodge too many icebergs .The mosquitoes and mayfly hatches will be in full bloom tho so make sure and wear your goggles.Those 2' mayflies hurt like hell at anything faster than 45 mph. Dont work that thing too hard or you might think about jumping in the water to cool off, its only 39.5 degrees and your pecans are now the size of frozen peas with a baby carrot on top of it. :D

I just booked a room at the Holiday Inn for Aug 17th & 18th. Many rooms open. Full bar and menu!! We can get a group rate for enough people.The number for reservations is 1-218-847-2121. I have to call monday to find out about the group rate and how many will be needed. Let you all know.

FYI several of us hook up on the chain here in Alexandria almost every weekend weather permitting. its a blast, you can drop your boat in and travel to 5 differant lakes. theres always a calm beach somewhere.... thanks

I did some calling around today, talked to a guy at the city we can beach the boats but can't leave them over night.
Talked to the manager at Zorbaz, when I get some numbers for people coming I will call him back, sounds like they would cut us some specials.
Called the Becker county Sheriff's dept to see what they are like on loud boats, waiting for a call back from the water cop.The DNR also patrols so I will try getting ahold of them this week to see what they are like. I told the guy I talked too at the Sheriff's office that I would like to find out in advance if they are going to be hard ass, and if so we would take it someplace else. He seemed to understand what I was saying. I want this to be a good time with no hassles, would hate to have people come from Wisconsin, Michigan,Southern Mn just to get treated like crap. When I talk to the water cop I will explain we are just there for the weekend not like we are moving in.

Making reservations this week, we should arrive late Friday or early Saturday. I've been to D.L. on the 4th. It's truly a great hang out with very nice accommodations in terms of restaurants, bars, beach, etc. Let's all pray for nice weather that weekend, and it will be a good time. :D :D

Ok talked to the water cop today, told him what was going on and asked what we could expect. He said that there is a lot of boat trafic on the weekends. I asked about noise and he looked up the decible level law I dont recall what he said now but I dont think it was all that much. He said that he didn't have a decible meter but the DNR did he. As long as they are not getting complaints he would leave us alone if they get complaints we would get a warning first then they would start ticketing if it continues. So pretty much stay off the throttle near the shore line.
I haven't talked to the DNR yet dont know if I should? I guess if you have baffles you should probably put them in.

Shouldn't have to worry about hitting anything, all the lakes are way up this year from all the rain. Detroit Lakes is big enough that a person can usually find a place to run in that isn't full of chop. I haven't been on the water there myself, but I've talked to a lot of guys who have about the same thing.

Yes I have two boats, the Hawaiian and a baker mod v tunnel that I bought as a project, haven't started on that one yet. Looks like I wiped the cam breaking it in, took out the rods, mains and crank along with it. Was my own screw up.
I been out mowing for the last two hours, came up with maybe a workable plan to get me threw the summer, I'm going to look for a junk yard dog 460 throw my heads and tunnel ram on it and stuff a cam in it. Wont be ideal but I have pissed away enough of our short summer already.
I'll keep ya posted!

Going after a 1975 T-bird tomorrow morning, shows 58,000 on the odometer could be 158,xxx could be 58,xxx Belonged to an old local couple, has been off the road since, get this 1985! Barn find, car is in nice shape too.It was started and run two years ago. Getting it for $200.00 Have someone interested in the rest of the car for $300 if I want to sell it. Will dump the oil give it some fresh oil with some sea foam flush it yank it and rip it down to the short block.Check the bearings, put my heads on it another new cam:mad: the tunnel ram, new oil pump and hope like hell this one makes it threw summer. Or at least past AUG 18th &19th! Wish me luck I dont have any of my own!
