I called my buddy up today and asked him how the river was? He said it was fine until the police ran over my $400 ski. I said WHAT? I guess he was heading up river when the ski popped out of the rack. He turned around to get it and the LEO was heading towards him. Some lady cop was yelling at him because he didnÂ’t use his flag to warn others about the fallen ski. At about that same time they run over the ski. He wanted to tear this cop a new axxhole but he had a couple of beers and didnÂ’t want cause any more trouble.

I would be pissed if we ran over a ski because there was no orange flag out warning everyone.

The story had some teeth until this part.....so he has been drinking, loses a ski, does not flag anyone and is pissed off someone hit it....the nerve of that cop...:) :)

$400 ski or $10,000 in legal fees for a DUI?
I'd be happy to pay for the $400 ski

I can't understand why if the the cop sees the ski fall why do they have to run over it? I don't think the flag would help these morons.

ANYONE for that matter, let alone LE. I am thinking the friend ran over the ski and is telling about the fish that got away.

Yep......making it sound good, "the cops did it, boo hoo..."
If it fell overboard, who's fault is it? He's trying to get out of paying for a replacement.

Wait a minute.....something doesn't add up....did the ski go through the prop??? I'd think the prop would be in pretty poor condition after chewing through a ski. IF the ski didn't go through the prop, then it just slid along the bottom and popped up on the other side...no harm, no foul.
Either way the ski comes up in the end, and is recovered......so let see the a photo of it....

Ski flag applies to a skier down in the water. Has no bearing on a ski.
And for the record, we (La Paz County) don't have any female cops on the water. We do have an female uncertified assistant, but she would be out with the male officer, who would have done all the talking.

I thought that "cop ran over the ski" story sounded kind of fishy......

Since when are they giving DUI's on the water? Is $10,000 a new fine amount?

No it's an OUI, and they'll probably bump it wreckless boating your first time. Cost you a grand to $1200 by the time it done though....unless you want to fight it....then 5-10K is not out of the question w/ lawyer fees, and lost wages.
