What floor jack do you have? 1.5, 2.0 or 2.5 ton? If yours isn't on the list, please post what it is. I carry the 2.5 ton Torin Big Red myself. BIG help when I lost that trailer tire last summer.

We always have one in the truck. I think it is a 3 ton. A fire extinguisher as well. You just never know. That floor jack has come in handy a time or two. We bought one for my sister's toy hauler also.

2.5, why dick around with it. I can put it just beind the driver door and jack up the whole side of the cheby and rotote the tires, she grunts a little doing it. I have 2 but only need that when wrenching on the 911.

Never leave home without one..Well I did once and after sitting in the middle of the desert for three hours waiting for AAA to change a flat tire on the trailer with the whole family yelling "Dad you didn't bring a jack" Well you know the rest of the story:D 2 Ton always in the truck!!!

I have used the stock one 3 times now. Once for the truck (right front separation), once for for the boat trailer (with the boat on it) and once for a friends boat trailer. Works just fine. Flat ground or a block of wood is the key. I carried a hyd jack around for years, but when I learned that the stock one does just fine and is stowed cleanly in it's place behind the back seat, I saw/see no reason to carry another.

I bought a jack awhile ago. leave it under the seat. I think i got it at a auto parts store. it's in it's own case. strong enough to lift my bro 2500 hd 4x4 and his 270 hallett triple axel trailer.

I had a jeg's 1.5 ton aluminum. Just returned it last week because it failed trying to lift my wife's Tahoe. Looking for a heavier duty replacement. I also carry a can of fix-o-flat.

I carry a 3 ton jack and a 15 ton bottle jack. I forget the makes of them. I also carry a fire ext. It would suck to have a trailer tire go bad and not be able to lift the damn thing to change it.

I run a bumper mounted Hi-Lift, which has been used as a winch, spreader, and jack so far.

I've used the stock jack on a few occassions without any real difficulty for the truck and for the trailer.
I carry a can of Fix-O-Flat and a portable jumper box that has an airpump for the appropriate situation.
I also try to carry some good luck with me as well...doesn't always turn out that way but I try :D:D

Been racing for over twenty five years and have gone through a lot of trailer tires. Going to Denver this year so I put ten plys on and hope we don't have anymore problems. But for the trailer we built a ramp to drive up on as it's quicker than getting out the twenty ton HF bottle jack.

One thing I did that's not mentioned is lug nut size. I went down and bought a 1/2" breaker bar and a lug nut socket set. My truck lugs, boat trailer lugs and travel trailer lugs are all different sizes. Kinda nice to use a a big heavy duty breaker bar and socket compared to that piece of crap wrench with attachements the manufacture gives you or god forbid a colapsable tire iron. Used it a few times on the side of the road and it takes up almost no space. Leave it under the rear seat in the Quad Cab. .02ยข
As for the jack. Only on big long trips if I'm towing. Stock jack sucks ass trying to lift the middle axle of triples on the boat trailer.

With a tripple axle trailer you don't need a jack to change a tire. Just need about a 4' section of 4x4 for either a front or rear tire and another 1' piece of 4x4 for a middle tire. Just pull onto the 4x4(s) and it will lift the other wheel and tire off of the ground. Learned this trick from Shippingguy, and it works like a charm.

From this forum and a few others, looks like the Craftsman was the most popular. From that info, my buddy has designed and built a mount so you can carry your jack in the back of your truck without it rolling around or getting stolen.
Check it out: http://www.***boat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=162560

I also carry a pair of mech gloves, hand towel, breaker bar, 6" ext, socket for lug nut. They all fit in the jack case. Had a blow out going to cali to drop the boat off and I didn't even get my hands or clothes dirty.
The key is to get a jack LOW enough to fit under the spring hanger or u bolt perch when your tire is FLAT

I ditched the scissor jack for a nice little bottle jack. Fits under the back seat better.

I carry a 3ton in the truck. It sure came in handy on the 40fwy late at night on the way to Laughlin. I also keep a big mag lite for the late nite changes.
