Ok I'm new to v-drives. sold my 19' foot jet, and bought a 21' elim. day cruiser, 460 ford stock, c-6 trans. Im not sure what kind of prop I have, or need. We ski alot and also like proformance. what props should I look at for each task? any links or advice would be great. the only markings on one of my props is oj 1214 cup, 5776. does anybody know what this means?
thanks for any help on this matter.

Desert dweller ,you have a cupped OJ 12x14 prop.12 is the diameter 14 is the pitch. It's about the right prop for your boat/speed .A cup in a prop gives you an extra theoretical pitch [in your case you calculate your speed ,like you have a 12x15 non cupped prop]. If you want to pull a 1/2 dozen skiers have a large prop like 14x13 . You didn't mention your drive ratio!

DesertDweller, What Spectra said is good, to add to it, if you are happy with how your boat performs now, you don't need a different propeller. A high performance steel propeller WILL OUT PERFORM your brass one.(3-blade) If you can tell me what your top RPM is reaching now then I can figure out if you can handle a meaner propeller. If you buy a new prop from me you get the GUARANTEE that your boat is improved and that your HAPPY!! TOM.. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif

desert dweller, Your boat is over geared now. Do you have to take off in 2nd gear ALL the time. I think, if you lower the gear some and put a good prop on it, your would become snappier. It would be better to set it up so you can take off in drive.(not shifting always) I will be at lake Shasta from the 9th to the 16th. If you want to try an 111/2x14 steel 3-blade, you can try my prop when I get back. Call me if you want, I will ship it to you. TOM..
