I have an opportunity to look at a 2000 Advantage Citation with less than 150 hours, and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were?
I have only seen a Citation from a distance, and have no experience with them....opinions please!

PM Wild Horses. He is on his third Advantage which is a 22' citation. I personally really like advantage. They make a real solid boat. Riding at any speeds there is no noise, nothing loose or weak. Can handle tonz of power. PM him he will help.

what size is the Citation 22 or 25? Both are nice.
I have a 1997 25 Citation closed bow and love it. Very nice ride, stable, responsive in the turns, has been able to handle anything Havasu during a busy weekend can throw at it without a hicup.
Had it outside San Diego Bay once with no worries.
Have had no problems with rigging or Gel discolorations. No creaks or rattles.
Mine is a bit underpowered for its size I think, stock 454 (carb) but can still hit the 60 mark at WOT.
The only things I have come across is I have had to replace the wood in the seat bottoms, which is normal when folks are constantly sitting in them right after getting out of the water. Also, I have replaced some of the colored vinyl, small tears and a purple piece was faded. Once again, I believe that is normal wear and tear.
We are very pleased with our Citation, and the other folks we have met, some of them here on the HB, are happy with theirs as well. Shout at SBARK1 here on HB, he has a Citation.
Actually the couple we bought ours off of, bought another Advantage right after selling. They had nothing but good things to say on the reliability and quality of the boat, and after owning it for a couple years now, I agree.

I Love My Boat
I Think Advantage Makes A Very Good Solid Boat
The 22 Is Very Big And The 25 Is Awesome
You Have A Great Engine For It
If You Look At The Advantage Web Page They Have About 15 Boats On Consignment For Sale
That Should Give You An Idea Of Pricing And Resale Value

I had a 25' Citation and it was excellent no problems at all. Bought new 28' Victory about three years ago and love that too. The boats hold up well and ride great. I bought both boats new and I love their customer service adressed any issue I might have had. Good luck and enjoy.

I say buy it...it's got to be a great deal. But then, I'm pretty sure that you're actually asking about my boat that's for sale...
:)
If you buy my boat, then I'm going to buy the Jesse James Ultra 27 Shadow. Let's all make each other a big ***boat happy family.

From what I've heard you can't go wrong with this boat. And with 150 hrs it sounds like a great deal...
Good Luck..

I dig my 22' Citation walk thru open bow. It rides a lot bigger than most 22's and has plenty of room to move around in, you won't feel cramped. I'm 6'4" tall and generally drive the boat standing up (drop down bolsters). Have had no issues other than annual maintenance needs. It'll run low 70's on a good day - 496HO, and the deep hull takes the chop pretty well.
I've got two friends that also have 22s, a 1998 closed bow and a 2004 cuddy. They both love them as well!

we love our boat. i went from a hawaiian 21,junk, a commander closed deck 25, speed rocket, and now the advantage open bow victory 27, cruiser. no comparison. i bought advantages 2000 boat show 27 from it's original owner. she booked at 64 and i got her for 50. i hope that helps you with your pricing. it only has the 454, but i bought her to cruise not go fast with only 150hrs on her. my commander went 75 and that was a real unstable ride.
any ways, "IT'S ONLY MONEY" my boats name too. good luck you will love the quality of advantage.

2 of my buddies have 25's, both open bows.
One with a 496HO does about 65
The other one was purchased with a 496 and added a Raylar kit, I think with a labbed prop he's hitting 72-73.
The boats are solid, but seem slow compared to the competition. For example another friend has a 25 Nordic with a stock 496HO, the boat from the factory was hitting over 70.
The 25 Citation is a nice ride in the rough water.

I've got the 22 citation, It's a 1989 and everybody can't believe how old it is. Its doesn't squeek or rattle. :)
I'm running about 700 hp and I can run 82mph. :)
The citation doesn't have a ventilated bottom so it takes more horses to go faster. The up side to that is it sticks to the water and is stable when running at speeds. :)

I had the 22 Citation (2001) and now have the 28 Victory. Hated to see my 22 go. It was a great boat, handled big water better than any boat I had ridden in that size range. Solid with no rattles after 4 years of heavy use and lots of room inside for a smaller boat.
Love my 28 Victory though and both are a cadillac rides. You will never set any speed records in these boats though. Just a good quality all around use boat.

I'm not moving...moving up in boats maybe to something a little faster. but not moving my house...I dunno if that question was directed at me though.
The boat definitely won't set any speed records, but it handles itself well at 70mph. That's with a labbed 4 blade 26 pitch prop. with my 24, I only hit about 66mph.
I listed it in the spam section if anyone wants to see some pics.

Need to echo what the rest have said. 25' citation, rock solid and 0 problems. Plus, the Advantage folks have been great to deal with...very responsive, helpful and easy to work with. Originally bought the boat at the LA boat show (from Shaken Not Stirred) and we still love it 2 years later. Even this year, with all the great boats, I still like the lines on the Advantage. I don't see how you can go wrong. :)

I looked at them before I bought my boat. Very big (tall cabin) for a 25'. Really nice inside. Seem to be very stable at speed and good in the rough water. Should be a great Havasu boat.

Ya, I did alot of research over there. I was this close to buying the SUT. I love that thing. But I need a truck with a normal bed, so I am getting the F150 next week.
The Hummers are cool. I don't think anyone gives them the credit they deserve. Especially when you see those pics from Moab!

I have a 2004 25'er that I love. No it will not outrun everything on the lake, but it is solid. I have a 496HO under the hatch and run in the mid 60's at Havasu and low 60's at Powell with a 24 Bravo1 prop. My biggest reason for the Advantage over some others was the roominess. I'm 6'4" and my son is 6'9" and we wanted something with some back seat leg room and room in the center cuddy to sit upright in. The son has room both places to spare. With 550 horses I'd think the 25 would run great.

Looks like we will not make it out till April or so. Need to bring the boat home and do a service at that time as well.
Somehow i need to squeeze a river trip between remodeling the house, a Hawaii trip, desert season, trips to Hooters and sleep. :D
