I really want to go motorboating in those sons-a-bitches. I'm afraid they'd knock me out though.

We are actually going to Maui on the 16th for a week. We always stay in the Kaanapali area. That area seems to have nice beaches and lots of activities. It's also close to Lahaina which has some nightlife. Also been to Kuai but it is slower pace and not as much as far as night time activities. I think Kuai is more scenic and relaxing if that is what you are looking for.

Maui is the best....It has everything, beaches, rain forests, volcano, and night life at Lahaina.....
My family is going to the Grand Wailea Resort on Maui in August...cheapest room is $650 per night.....

We are going back to Maui in October. I got a package at the Hyatt through my travel agent. Flight out of LAX, room, car from Friday to Friday for
$3420. The Hyatt is awesome. The Westin is another great place and that package is $3300. These rates are PER COUPLE! If you want to talk to my travel agent I send me a PM. The Old Lahaina Lua is the most traditional and best one in Maui (my opinion).

Maui is where we would like to go next.
We went to Oahu last time and stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki. There's a Dukes at the first floor of our hotel, restaurants and shops right along the beach including a marketplace (http://widget.slide.com/rdr/1/1/1/W/10000000aee2a06/1/103/HJ3U-65bwz9ACK3JcSrmFcshQafU8ytf.jpg) underneath a canopies of trees.
We rented a car for several days and drove around the island stopping along the beaches and grabbed a plate lunch. We visited the Dole pineapple plantation, a mormon temple, and the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial (a must-see if you are in Waikiki). So much fun!
A few of the photos are here: http://www.slide.com/r/1hxtygHE7z99NM8O7tiKX6rUffC2DZol?previous_view=lt_ embedded_url
Whatever island you choose to stay at, I don't think YOU CAN GO WRONG!! Best wishes!
Just a few pics from our trip.

I personally disliked Oahu alot. I grew up in San Diego and Oahu did not seem much different, just more tourists. Maui is great but Kuai is where its at. :)

I agreee...Oahu is touristy but we didn't want to be bored during our trip. It depends on your personal preference.
One unmistakable clue that you're in Oahu and not
Redondo/Hermosa Beach (where beaverretriever and I lived before moving to Vegas) is the smell of plumeria everywhere. I could smell the sweet scent the minute we got off the plane and everywhere we went.

Maui in Nov-Jan. The whales come down from Alaska and raise their calfs.....It also sucks here in the so cal during winter so it is the best time to go. Went last year and stayed at Kaanapali Shores.........Simply wonderful.

On Kauai, there is a dry and wet side. Dry side is Kapa'a to Po'Ipu....tourist traps, kind of plain jane.
The wet side (North Shore) is where it's at - Princeville is the resort there, Hanalei is a cool little town. Lots of small, secluded beaches..and home to the wettest spot on the planet. During winter, the big surf comes up - Dec to Feb. The north shore is real laid back....you soon discover what "Hawaiian Time" means. Kind of localish at times, almost hedonistic, and relaxing. Lots of big $$$ in Princeville.
I would post some pics but the image center is acting up:mad:
