I have a '93 Essex 18' semi vee closed bow with a Merc 200. Ive tried a lot of props and haven't found one that I really like. I have a standard three blade 25 pitch Quicksilver prop that has the vent holes and it cavitates out of the hole and gets 6100 rpms on top and about 68mph. Id like to see the rr's a little lower. I also have a three blade 26 pitch Balistic prop that isnt vented, and it luggs out of the hole but is perfect mid range though top end at 5600 rpms at 72mph. My motor says in the manual its rated for 5000-5600rpms. Ive tried a 26 pitch Chopper and didn't like it. Ive also tried a Bravo 1 four blade 26pitch it acted the same as the Balistic prop but only 68mph. Im just wondering if I should have my prop vented or is there another prop hiding out there that is perfect. Any Ideas?
