Me and my dad were out last weekend and cracked the strut on the flaty. is it ok to weld it ar do we have to spend 400$ for a new one

you might seriously consider buying a new one, that some serious business you trying to fix. You don't the weld on that to break for whatever reason. just my .02

Some thing are cool to fix, but the strut isn't one of them. Get a new one.
