Is it called a two wire? And what would I replace it with if I just go down to the local parts store?

Just replace it with a Chevy 2 wire. Make sure the mounting is the same and that the distance from the face of the brackets to the outside edge of the pulley is the same. If you don't your belt won't line up. You won't have a "marine" alternator so it is not gonna be spark proof and insurance won't pay if boat burns due to a fire started in the engine compartment. You will probably need to ask for one to fit a mid 70's pick-up with a bigblock.

Be warned, use of non-marine parts does createa fire/explosion hazard in a covered engine area. I use automotive parts on my v-drive with a totally exposed engine. They gotcha by the balls on marine parts, but it is much safer to pony up and buy the right part.

If its going in your boat and under an engine hatch either have it rebuilt or get another MARINE one!!!!!!!

It looks like it might be a Motorola unit. Why not take it to a good auto electric shop and have it rebuilt?
