long story short.. Jamie and I had our truck and my car detailes today,. clay, and the works.. I pull the truck on the street for our workers to use the driveway to clean the trucks out.
There is a guy couple houses down doing some bondo work on a black car.. No big deal..
Hour later our worker comes in and says the guy is spray painting the car and the overspray is going right at my truck.
I go out to my truck and find black and grey over spray all over the truck.
I walk over to the guy and ask him why he is spraying a car without plastic on the surrounding cars. You have over sprayed all four of these cars." He looks at me a says it is dust from sanding the bondo. I haven't painted anything..:jawdrop: I said we just watched you spray that whole side of the car.
He called me a liar.
I said go to my truck and tell me that is dust. he did comes back and says it is dust, that I am blind.
I called the police ( since Culver City police have nothing to do ) they show up in less than 5 mins.
tell me he is going to stop and it is not a crime.:jawdrop: I saido.k it's not a crime, Now what do I do about the overspray all over my truck and how about my neighbor who is parked right in front of this car.
He said I need to take him to court if there is any damage on the truck.:jawdrop:
I asked if he could have the guy wipe down the truck, the police officer said I can not srtong arm the man to do so.. WTF..
I said o.k well thanks for nothing..
Sorry I had to vent. I eneded up wiping down the truck and he went to the peoples driveway and started another car,:jawdrop:
But didn't spray it..
Thank you and I am done venting.:)

thanks for inspiring me. had the same problem yesterday with my neighbor's workers. although it wasn't paint, it made me mad just the same. they were out in front of the house, in the street cutting into a shower pan or tub or something for the bathroom. it was like a white cloud of dust settled all over my yard, newly washed car and THE BOAT. There wasn't any plastic courtesy, or just coming over and asking to move my car as a warning or something like that. they finished up and did a quick squirt down of their mess. they washed it all down the gutter and since my house is down from theirs, guess where it all stopped. in front of my house and driveway.
why are people so stupid?

dont call the cops they are worthless as always.call code enforcement or the
fire dept.he could get a fine for doing body work and paint.they do have laws for this.you will have to check it out with your city codes

wait so he was spraying outside? I would check with your county/ city... I'll bet you that against the law... (99% of the cops would not know this)
Not sure about where you live, but here its a big time fine...
In my county its not illegal to spray cars... you just can't vent the room... :)

Those are the same jackasses you see at Havasu. Generally, people are decent, but it is the bad ones that ruin your hope. This guy is the dude that dumps trash in the lake, dings your boat, kicks sand everywhere, etc. Some folks just dont give a crap about your possessions.

MRS FLYIN VEE, you called the wrong cops. Call the EPA. Those people have no humor for over spray. I believe in the Socialist Republic of California you need to have a booth with the proper filters & ventilation for spraying paints with volatile agents. I doubt he was using EPA approved water based paints.
Oh how I miss being shot at from CxCx boys. :jawdrop:

Exactly ....the EPA would be interested in this.....he also endangering the health of anyone nearby....also if any of the cars he is working on do not belong to him...then he is running an illegal business...city or county ordinances likely prohibit that....call the city and or county to complain.....Call the fire dept about spraying paint out doors. CARB would be interested too.....I imagine in California, he is only breaking a few dozen or so rules...

I'm somewhat curious as to why the guy was spray painting multiple vehicles next door to you. Do you have an Earl Schieb on your street?
That's great. :D :D I'll bet he will paint any car in the hood for $49.95.:)

Its a no brain-er, if he told the cop he wasn't painting I would have casually walk up to the car he was painting and leaned up against it, just to watch him shit!!!:D

LOL!! No he was just a body man doing body work on a neighbors car that is a POS anyway. All this guy did was make the rest of the car look worse..
I hate to complain, I know the guy was trying to make a fast buck.
I should explain better. He was not using a spray gun, he was using spray cans.. And yes the cops knew he was spray painting it, they rubbed their fingers across the black he did paint.
I was pissed because the cops couldn't do anything about it but believe me If anything goes down in Culver City.I want them at my door. I love all the cops here.I just feelsomething could have been done.. They didn't even ticket him.

I think you should bring home some pipes full of crap from one of your job sites and rinse them out, making sure the over-spray is directed at his car/house... just a thought;)

I hear that a tank sprayer with brake fluid in it should promptly remove any work that he's done to his car...
Im not saying you should do this.... :D that would be illegal;)

Get your biggest shop fan out and turn it on in his direction. Then get a spray can in each hand and stand there ready to hit it when he starts spraying...think he'd get the point?
Switch to gloves and a plastic spray bottle of muratic acid if he doesn't.
