I rented a shop in Riverside last week to prepare for the move to a new house.
Now that I have a bigger shop I bit the bullet and I left a deposit on a new toy Friday.
What do you guys think?
You guys wait to see what I can do with this.
T-7 weeks and counting.

I think that you will find yourself creating some very fine hardware with that thing. :)

Used one almost identical when I was in college. The control looks different, and the lab one had a 20 something tool magazine. Works pretty slick!

Think my motor projects take long now?
I won't have any time to build motors, too busy machining parts to pay for the thing.

Anyone know where I can find a macheener dude that ain't so picky?

Come on brian, with that you should be able to just come back in an hour and the motor is done, cut AND polished.

Not a brand new one.

Not a brand new one.
It is a 40 taper machine, the max RPM is 7500. You can get 10K and 15K(or more maybe) spindles but it really isn't necessary.
I don't know the rapid speed....A good friend of mine has two VF-2's and they have 800 and 1000 IPM rapids, running the same program on both machines I only see a few seconds difference in cycles.
I can't wait.
I was already awarded a nice job for it.

Finished most of the wiring and air-lines this weekend.
I am beat.
I should own Home Depot and Lowes stock by now.
I tried to plan it out as well as I could, I made at least four to five extra trips and I didn't even finish.

I've had many of those days...Make a list... if you think you will only need one... buy 2. you can always take it back...

Thanks Steel,
We are quite a ways off of from a five axis machine. I haven't even TRIED to program 5-axis, nor have I ever had the chance to pass on a 5-axis job.
The machine will be capable of 4th axis though.

I did make lists, trust me. I just didn't make the list big enough.
Then there was, "We I should do that, and you should do this." Next thing I know I am on my way to the store again. Those changes netted other changes, and it starts over from there.
I didn't buy two, I bought 10.

Rio
I'm not scared, bring them over right now.
I invented something last night in my sleep.
I woke up and jotted it down.
It looks just as cool in the morning when I am coherent.

Guess what was parked out front when I got to the shop this morning?
A brandie-new VF-4, that is what.
Got it all hooked up and waiting for HAAS to come by at 7 Friday morning for the start-up.
Bedtime, I only worked 14 hours today, sweet.
Pictures to follow, when I get a chance.
