View Full Version : Where to buy New U-Joints??

I pulled my drive shaft today and took it to the Autozone to see if they can match the u-joints up. They said they were pretty large, even for a full size truck? I am running an Olds 350 with a Berkeley pump. Most Auto parts stores around here rely on computers. If it is not in the computer, they cannot help. I figure I will try Napa tomorrow but is there some car or truck that I can match up with?

Call a driveline shop in your area. They should be able to get what you need.

there should be numbers on the ujoint they can look up ( make them get out the books...) last time I replaced a set it was out of a 70s gm 1 ton.

[QUOTE=TIGGER;2650874]QUOTE]Any Dana-Spicer Dealer or Authorized Dealer/Auto Shop should be able to get. Standard parts.

There are at least 3 possible u-joints to consider. The most common is the Spicer 1310. Next would be the Spicer 1350 which is larger than the 1310. The least likely would be the u-joint for the Rockwell style drive line. TIGGER, can you put up a pic of what you have or at least the outside diameter of the u-joint cap and distance across the caps?
Find a REAL autoparts store if the chain store guys won't pull out the catalogs and help you. The oldschool stores that supply the repair shops in your area could probably have you out the door with parts in hand in a matter of minutes. The suggestion of going to a driveline shop is also excellent advice.

If you have one of the real old style H-Bar drivelines with the built in PTO, some of the had a Rockwell Ujoint that you will not find at any parts store. Last time I got one of those I had to get it from Phil @ Bergeron Marine. Last I had heard he was the only one around that had them. Good luck.

AutoZone sucks. They usually dont know squat. Go to NAPA Auto Parts. I dont always care for them either but they are Waaaay better than AutoZone

This is what i did took my whole driveline in to a real auto parts store. They popped the old ones out and had the correct ones in stock. 30 mins later and $65. Not bad.

I got them. I have the rockwell style. 1.25" cap dia and approx 3.2" width. I went to Napa and they figured it out. The Spicer type were too small. They were $32 each. Thanks guys
