I'm running that setup on my Hallett 270 step, works awesome , very stable,
but I have noticed my turning radius is not very tight...kinda hard to turn around in the channel at Havasu , but at top speed, very stable !

I'm running the older version of Imco HD gimbal and steering seperate through the transom with full hydraulic char lynn helm,,I think the new version is much cleaner looking and less holes that need to be drilled into the transom,,,mines on a 29' Lavey and the handling is very smooth and responsive....

Im running a Keith Eickert blown 540 with 720hp,,,turning radius is not that great but its basically a 30' boat so cant really turn that sharply anyways,,,but the helm control is great,,,steer it with 2 fingers if you want,,,I just picked it up at the end of the season and have ran it at 92...

Thanks for the info, not sure if i want to spend the extra money if iam going to lose some turning radius. I may just go with regular transom mount hydraulic steering.

Nope, just compared with last boat and stock set up...no external steering.
