I had to drop a few lbs and just started eating a bigger breaky, drinking lots of water `through out the day. veggies and fruit for lunch and soup for supper. Lost 12 lbs last month. Lotsa walking! Down to 220 ..still need to shed another 20 or so..I'm pretty sure that once I go on days off ..i'll make it back up with beer :D :D

Going through a divorce usually works pretty good...;)

Simple formula...take in less then you put out.
Don't know about the fruit and soup thing though. When you eat make the calories count as in less sugar and fat and more protein and get off the couch;)

Heres what we did. Instead of the NutriSystem which would have been over $700 for 4 weeks with one free I thought we would try the Lean Cuisines and such mainly for portion control (I like to eat). We have one of the smaller entrees for lunch and the 3 course dinner for the nightime meal along with as big a salad as you want. Gave up bread and tv snacks (hard), instead I use soda crackers with meals, and TV snacks are now all fat free items. It's not hard to figure out whats bad for you so just do it and stick to it faithfully for at least the first 2 months. My wife lost 15 as did I and now we treat ourselves once a week to a real meal:D We have been doing this for I guess 3 1/2 months and I'm down from 206 to 188, the wife wont say:rolleyes: In actuality it is not bad at all and I feel a lot better with less weight plus now we are not being so strict but still follow the plan 80% of the time. Good luck;) NSF

I've been trying to slim down since Nov, I think I've gained a couple pounds since then.

Eat less calories than your body consumes in a day, and drink lots of water. Works everytime.
Cutting carbs works awesome too, but it easier said than done.

I just cut out all the carbs. Like NotsoFast said, no bread and snacks. Pork Rinds are my snacking food, along with peanuts. And what I think helped the most was stopping the late night fast food runs after drinking. I started at 315 lbs, I am now down to 265. The first 50lbs is always the easiest I think. Its alot harder for me right now to lose it as fast.

I heard if you chop off your head you loss like 8-9 pounds.:D
For me... I went back to the gym. I lost fat and put on muscle weight. Need to get a body fat check and then check it again later. went from 213 to 228. I know that the wrong way but i lost fat and put on muscle.

True, I could really care less about weight, it's just a number. I'm more concerned with body fat %. I would like to get in the area of 12%.

LOL :D :D :D
What everyone has said is right. Eat less callories than you burn. Make the calories count. And exercise. Lost 20 pounds this way last year and have kept most of it off. (sprained my ankle last spring and that killed my motivation. ) Been trying to get back on the bandwagon ever since.

Eat more intelligently. Cut out empty calories. Learn about nutritional content.
Cut back or eliminate sodas, weekday beers, junk carbs and useless fillers. Read the package labels and get rid of stuff that isn't natural like High Fructose Corn Syrup.
Our bodies don't process man made sugars very well, and things like cookies, chips, crackers and breads are all like that. Whole grains, fruits and veggies and meat are your friends.
Look for the Abs Diet book from mens Health magazine on Ebay. Lots of good info. No need to make drastic changes you can't live with. Just small healthy changes and you will feel, look and be in better shape.
Oh, and exercise helps....:D

Stop drinking soft drinks and sports drinks (unless you are exercising and need electrolite replacement). Avoid sugar and don't overdo the carbs. EXERCISE!! I took up cycling. Love it. Not hard on your joints but takes a while to get good at it. I also run. I used to run for 30 minutes or so till I started wearing a heart monitor and discovered I was only burning 400 cal or so. So not I run at least an hour and burn 1,000 cal. Buy a heart monitor (Polar Watches) and it will really help develope your cardio.

One more tip. Don't get the combo meal. Eat a sandwich / burger / whatever but don't get the chips or fries and order water instead of cokes. If you have to eat fast food eat at Subway / Quiznos or somewhere like that.

You don't necessarily have to eat less but just EAT BETTER.
I try and consume a snack or meal every 3 hours and eat at least 6 times a day to prevent your body from going into starvation mode (which stores fat).
I try and shop at Trader Joe's as much as possible because they carry very tasty organic and healthy food.
I stopped eating ice cream, candy and fast food. NOT EATING FAST FOOD WAS VERY GOOD FOR ME. I will eat subway or a deli sandwich everyday instead.
I hit the gym 3-4 days a week working out so this recipe might be different from others but just eating better will help anybody lose weight.
Good Luck
Brad
Oh yeah and limit your beer consumption!!! I switch it up and drink wine a lot more lately, I think the calorie intake is still close to the same but you wont get that bloated feeling.

How long did it take you to get up to an hour? Did you gradually work your way up? What pace are you running at? Does that hour include hills?

I discovered Heart Monitor training. Do what ever it takes (that means swallowing your pride and walking) to keep you heart rate in the 140 to 149 range. I did this for a few weeks and sent from 3 miles to 6 miles in a couple of weeks. Very little soreness BUT understand that my cardio was pretty good from cycling.
Now during training I run at a 10 minute pace. But I am able to control my heart rate and keep it low. This all sounds very boring but my when I enter a bike race, triathlon or adventure race I have no problem with endurance and am able to run a much faster pace.
Yes, that and every other hour in the Nooga includes hills.... LOL... I live on a mountain and hills are a part of training

I found that the best way to get my heart rate up was by leaving the computer room door open and yankin one off to some good porn! My heart rate probably jumps to 160 with every noise I hear.. then up to +/- 170 trying to get things back up and runnin! and ther's no way I'll make a sandwhich right after :D
